「We loved the remoteness of it, and the friendliness of the lady who served us dinner and breakfast. This is not like a stay in the more touristy parts of Costa Rica like La Fortuna or Monteverde. This is off the beaten path. Its not as close to the Rincon de la Vieja park as we originally thought (1h30 drive time on poor quality roads, in theory there was a straighter distance road but we didn't trust our rental AWD Rav4 would be able to get there).」

「You don't stay in Arenal for the area around the B&Bs. You go to Arenal because it's funky and quiet and friendly . We return to Casa Donna Rosa for the welcoming owners and most of all for the fantastic breakfast preparations. I have only been gone one day and I miss their breakfasts already. Home baked Challah in think hunks with baked crisp finish the their french toast...yumm even before you try adding the smear of preserves. Great Costa Rican coffee is served with pots of wam milk. 」

「I can't say enough for what a great time we had at Kakao Lodge. I was skeptical at first since I usually like staying in my chain hotels that provide all the normal American comforts. But after staying here, my mind has totally changed. You can't describe how awesome it is to be able to see a half dozen different species of exotic frogs at night, or a sloth while eating breakfast, or tropic birds singing to you in the morning. And don't forget about breakfast. Everyday, we had homemade to order...
