Honey Bear Pause was just as quaint and rustic as pictured. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay including the decor with its thoughtful seasonal touches. The hot tub was relaxing, and the rocking chairs on the deck were perfect for sipping coffee in the morning and wine in the evenings.
Since we had a rather extended stay, we made full use of the kitchen which was well stocked with the necessary cookware. Even though we cooked some, we also ate at several local restaurants. I highly recommend the burgers at the Apple Valley Cafe, and the steak and trout at Trailhead. However, our favorite was the breakfast at Riverstone which was thoughtfully provided for us as part of our stay. The sweet cream pancakes were so delicious, we went back for more the following morning! We also purchased ready made sandwiches from the Townsend IGA for our afternoon trip to Cades Cove, a must see destination. On our way back into Townsend, we had to stop for a bear crossing, a mother and her two cubs!
Here are some tips for travelers (which certainly do not take away from our excellent rating of the cabin). Take your own or plan a trip to the IGA for perishables, paper towels, and napkins should you need them. Shampoo was provided, but you'll need to bring your own conditioner should you need it. We had plenty of other basics.
Altogether, we highly recommend the cabin and Townsend, the Peaceful Side of the Smokies!
