By day it's just another narrow alleyway common in Tokyo, but at night the street turns into a mini nightlife area for the salarymen of Tokyo. With numerous tiny #bar lining up, the nickname comes from the fact in the past so many drunk salarymen doing their "bussiness" there because there's no toilet anywhere in this alleyway. Today, regulation has been set in the area so it is a lot cleaner than before. The alleyway is very narrow and can only fit at maximum 2 people at a time so be mindful of your surrounding when visiting especially when there's many drunk people walking by from the bars. The bars are also very tiny and can only fit less than 10 people at a time. If you are not claustrophobic give them a try, it's a special experience on its own :)

This hotel is showing its age a bit. Great location, close to subway entrance and short walk to the Shinjuku gardens. Staff a little reserved, but had no problems asking for a taxi. Breakfast was a bit ordinary. Rooms very small, recommend one person to a room.

For Tokyo, it's a decent hotel for the price but barebone amenities. Business district with a great restaurant area a few blocks away. Roughly a 10 minute taxi ride to the entertainment area of Shinjuku.

Toyoko Inn- Shinjuku Gyommae was in an excellent location for public transport and is within walking distance to popular shopping locations and landmarks within Shinjuku. My room was also quite spacious and had quite a bit of floor space. The breakfast offered was nice, but it was mainly a selection of savoury dishes. I would definitely stay here again due to the convenient location! :)

This is a nice hotel and the area is convenient to the train station. The breakfast buffet was good the only thing I didn’t like are the hard beds, it’s like sleeping on the floor. Need to upgrade the mattresses.

The hotel itself was nice, very clean, cozy room. there was only one small pillow on the bed for some reason. The refrigerator didn't work The front desk staff was a bit awkward. the worst part though was that I got food poisoning from the breakfast buffet. I should have known better than to eat it after the first bite when it wasn't hot, had obviously been sitting out too long. I went through about 6 hours of absolute misery rom it. if you're going to eat the breakfast, arrive early. I would caution that it's probably not worth the risk.

Nice hotel

I had a good rest in this hotel. The room was very clean, I liked the shower. The area is very quiet and near a park. In general is a good hotel and it have a delicious Japanese breakfast. Hotel could improve if it had luggage storage when you go away for a couple of days and come back. I had to leave my luggage at the Shinjuku station.

Well situated and comfortable.

Located very close to a metro line, the hotel allowed me to explore the local area of Shinjuku and also the rest of the tourist areas of Tokyo. My room was clean and comfortable and its size was adequate. It was serviced every three days although fresh towels were provided daily, even when I didn’t want them! Breakfast was free and was excellent, giving me a great start to my day. I would certainly use this hotel again if I was coming to Tokyo.

Nice clean hotel, friendly staff that need to know more English. Very close to the subway. Walking distance to the main part of shinjuku. They just don’t provide daily cleaning and the breakfast is too Japanese they is not convenient for everyone, suggest adding some universal items such as cheese and Jam.

Everything is perfect. I like the free breakfast. They also clean and fix your bed on certain days. They also give you fresh towels every day. WiFi was good, was able to access my Netflix and Disney accounts. The only not so good about the place are: walls were not sound proof and staffs don’t speak good English.

This hotel is good, there is plenty of restaurants nearby a metro station just 5 minutes away walking and shinjuku 15-20 minutes walking. The staff doesn’t know much English and I don’t speak Japanese but they still helped the best they could with check in. The staff always welcomed me when I entered the building and left. There is a elevator that requires your room key which makes it safe for the people staying in this hotel. Rooms were cleaned every 4 days. Overall I would stay in this hotel again because shinjuku is nearby and it’s convenient for sightseeing visitors.
