Great location in an amazing nabourhood. Room was the size I expected but beds were very hard, I think the carpeted floor was softer. Wifi was slow and spotty, many times would loose connection for over an hour.

The staff were always very friendly towards us. Most speak English or understand English. Just keep in mind, it is hotel policy to return your key every day you leave and you’ll get it back when you return. Plenty of shopping in the area, family mart and 7/11 are within 1 block of the hotel, domino’s is next door, and Ikebukuro station is a 5-8 minute walk from the door. Highly recommend this property for anyone seeking a comfortable place that’s easily accessible to the greater Tokyo area. (The rooms are small and the bathrooms are tiny, other than that, there’s absolutely no complaints)

The building and rooms are clearly old, but notably well taken care of. The staff were always very friendly and helpful. There’s at least 4 convenience stores within a couple minutes walking distance and the nearest entrance to the train station is also only a couple minute walk away. They advertise laundry services, but I learned that the laundry was offsite and had to be paid for, which was a bit unfortunate

The Stay Hotel New Star Ikebukuro is located conveniently near Ikebukuro station (5-10 minute walk, depending where you exit). I guess this is what you call the typical business hotel for business travelers. It has most if not all the essential you'll need for the stay. But is not a fancy like some of the big name hotel, but is not bad. The place is old, but they keep it fairly clean (to Japan standard), compare to some motel and hotel. Don't expect a nice view or nice lighting, but is a decent place to stay if you don't want to share rooms. The Miscellaneous The hotel is located in a good location with different various shop, restaurants, and other amenities nearby (I mean it is in Tokyo). They are conveniently walkable. Sunshine City is also a walkable distance as well. The staff seem sincere and try to explain the process to travelers. They mention you should leave the key with them before you leave to explore so they can clean the room when you are out. All in the all, it is not an upscale place, but is a decent place if you are looking for something not super expensive to stay the night.
