"Convenient for Finsbury Park station - just a 10 minute walk. Bed was comfortable and it was quiet. There was kitchen equipment if you wanted to cook. There’s an M&S Foodhall just outside the station which was really useful. There were some tea bags and some instant coffee sachets provided. Huge TV - with access to Netflix, Disney+, etc Wi-fi was great. Good sized bathroom with walk-in shower - worked perfectly. Reception staff pleasant and smiley. No complaints - all good and would stay again."

Otherwander Soho Pod Hotel (ADULTS ONLY)

"Location was the best thing about this property. I suggest for solo travellers to book a double pod because the single pod is tiny. I was very glad I booked a double pod for myself and I was surprised to find that it was a double (it really felt like a single); I can’t imagine how small the single pods are. There is no fridge in the hotel, and there is only one towel and one pair of slippers. If you want more you have to pay. No room service of course as it’s just a small pod. The staff were helpful and friendly. Location is heart of soho. You will hear people going in and out. You’ll hear door slamming. I find the room to also be somewhat on the colder side. There is a thermostat in the pod but it can only go up (or down) to a certain degree, then it locks. I also suggest bring your own slippers. The showers can be extremely wet and then all the waters spills into the washroom area. Check washroom stalls before you go in as I found some were left without toilet paper for days."

"My first two nights I was in an older room. There wasn’t even a coffee pot that was a bit of a bummer. Lots of noise and construction going on all night long the rooms without air-conditioning. You have to open up the window so it’s very noisy. Cute little bar and café on site. I moved to another room for two more nights, and that was a much better room higher up with air-conditioning bigger and worth the extra cost. With all that being said, it’s all about location, location, location, and this one has it. There’s a Mark and Spencer‘s right across the street shopping pharmacy and all the food restaurants, pubs, music, plays and comedy clubs all a 10 minute walk."

"The Standard has been a hotel I've wanted to stay in for a number of years so when a work trip came up and I had the opportunity to stay, I was thrilled. It's clear why so many people love this hotel and return time and time again, while I really enjoyed my time here, there were a couple of things which stopped this from being a five-star stay. On check-in, I was prompted to pay again despite paying in advance, the receptionist eventually realised this but there was a lack of attention to detail and I found them to be a little cold. It also wasn't explained to me where breakfast was the following morning as this was included in my stay - small things I know but they matter. I stayed in a single room which was lovely for just me, this is one of those hotels which goes all-in on the retro quirky decor and is unapologetically itself which I absolutely love, however, having to climb up into bed wasn't something I was a fan of. If I stayed again, I would probably book a different room type. I ate dinner in The Lounge and the food was really delicious, however, my meal came out well before my drink arrived and I had to ask for cutlery, just tiny things again that were missed. That said, the service at breakfast also in The Lounge was excellent and the staff were really lovely. I also used the gym during my stay and loved that they had two Peloton bikes, a real treat. I'd definitely return to this hotel again in the future, it's wonderful and couldn't be better located."
