When he passed through Union lines on December 29th his pass was taken and when he tried to pass through Union lines again, he was detained and interrogated at "Ten Mile House. When he was searched, a codebook was found showing where Union Troops were positioned and how much ammunition they had. When questioned Dodd refused to name who had given him the information. His last words were said to be: "I can die, but I cannot betray the trust of a friend. His buried at Mount Holly Cemetery in Little Rock.
