Very Scottish decor’ for some reason.
Staff were over worked and doing multiple jobs as best as they could and as quickly as they good. Tending bar, taking orders, waiting on tables - just one person! They really struggled at breakfast with a coach party all coming down to eat at the same time and only two waitresses and one chef to handle everything. I could see how frustrated the staff and the customers were getting with the whole situation. The room was clean and tidy with good tea and coffee amenities. TV was working well. Bathroom looked recently refurbished. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout. I really liked their “free drink instead of housekeeping” option, which I absolutely decided to go for. Hotel is conveniently located to train station and a short walk into Kendal town centre.

Our room was nice - small but it was only for 1 night. However the shower was so small it was difficult to move in it and there wasn't anywhere to put shower gel etc. The water also kept going too hot then cold. We had a meal there on the evening which was delicious, but one of the bar staff came across a bit rude and obnoxious! Breakfast was also delicious and the member of staff serving breakfast was lovely, really smiley and friendly!

Albeit slightly dated, really good for the price, the whole place could probably do with an overhaul but I'd rather have it like it is at the current price, the sheets, towels etc were spotless . Lovely couple and good breakfast. Would stay again.
