Relaxing fall getaway. Living room is cozy with great view of the lake through the trees. Yard feels private and secluded. Just a short walk down to the sandy beach.

U.P family destination

We had a lovely time at this house. Really enjoyed the beach for the kids! We all had plenty of space for sleeping and the location is awesome. We appreciated the wide array of fans in the closets to help keep it cool.

We had a wonderful time. The house was clean, beautiful and we had most eveeything we needed. (No griddle to make pancake or french toast) We will definitely stay there again sometime!

Secluded Get-Away

If you desire a wooded area away from the action of town-life, this is for you. Hunters and fishermen who are not concerned with basic amenities might appreciate. Definitely not for you if you are used to basic conveniences provided by other VRBO properties. While I still rate this as ok, I have experienced better attention to details by property owners. This is a basic place to lay your head. Owners appear unconcerned with providing amenities for their guests. It clearly states online that soap/body wash is not provided. However, I consider that a basic convenience. At least included at all other VRBOs (and hotels) at which I have stayed. Sheets did not fit the bed upstairs. The house is in need of simple repairs. Deck was not inviting, no furniture to sit and enjoy coffee outside. Hard water and stains definitely affect the appearance of eating utensils and dishes. I guess the rustic life with few amenities is not for me. Chad was nice enough and communicated well, but I expected more. I recall the online listing saying this was only 6 or 7 miles from St. Ignace, but it is more accurately 11 miles from town. Not a deal-breaker though.

The property can be great but sorely let go. The pictures on the listing are not current. There are broken doors, mold and deteriorating walls in bathrooms and overall a dirty home. We could not give the kids a bath in either tub and fought ants the whole week through the entire house. It would have been helpful to have a bug repellent device outside on the deck to spend any time there but there wasn’t any furniture on it anyway. The gas grill is unusable. We bought paper plates and cups as the dishwasher leaves a thick film on the kitchenware.

Family trip

Wonderful long weekend family trip. The guys did some fishing and us ladies and kids did some shopping in town. We all visited the Deer Ranch twice. The house was just as listed. It was clean and well stocked. The beds were comfortable. Chad was great to work with.

Property is nice but needs updating and new cleaning service.

Owner's cleaning service is not very astute. They ask you to put dishes in dishwasher and turn it on when you leave but don't provide dishwasher detergent. So, coffee cups are horribly stained and dirty on arrival. We only used coffee pot and coffee cups during our stay as we ate out our entire stay. We had to wash our cups with a brush to get them usable. Two beds were made without top sheets so we had to find top sheets to go between the fitted sheets and comforter. They were available but the cleaning person obviously doesn't care about quality work. Child finger prints are on the massive windows from previous guests and either not seen or simply not cleaned off. Bath tubs did not have anti-slip mats so they were improvising with a rug, stayed wet because it's not designed for the purpose. Lawn and driveway need some maintenance as limbs from trees obstruct view and rub your rental car as you drive in the driveway. All in all, it was nice enough and we are happy but I do a pretty concise review so the owner can either be aware of the problems and fix or he can ignore them and loose future guests.

We enjoyed our stay. However, the place could use some TLC. The deck was really in need of cleaning and staining. The beds need to be replaced. Very uncomfortable and bedding very old. With some upgrades, it would be a great place to stay.

Lacks basic amenities, cleanliness issues and loads of bugs and insects lying around.

Although the cabin had a rustic charm and a nice walkout to the beach, the absence of WiFi and the abundance of mosquitoes made for a less than desirable experience for us. The cabin was lacking in cleanliness and in need of upgrades in the kitchen and bathroom. When asked about air conditioning, the owner informed us that there isn’t one as the cabin cools down in the night which is far from truth when the weather is warm and you can’t open windows for ventilation. Potential guests should be aware of these drawbacks before booking.
