The COVID-19 pandemic has affected how the world works in ways big and small, including how we can travel safely. The following tips will help you understand these new challenges and get you ready for your flight to Southern Region:

• Before you book a flight, check if any travel restrictions or bans apply — in both your destination and origin. Get up-to-date information by checking government websites.
• Wear a face mask even during airport screening. A TSA officer will ask you to lower your mask temporarily to verify your identity.
• You're no longer required to hand your boarding pass (electronic or paper) directly to a TSA employee. Rather, place your pass on the scanner and then hold it up for the agent to visually inspect it.
• You are now permitted to take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your carry-on luggage. You'll have to remove it for screening.
• Remove items from your pockets, such as your wallet, phone and small change, and put them in your carry-on instead of the bins. This will reduce handling during screening.
• Transport any food items in a clear plastic bag and also place them in a screening bin. Keeping food separate from your carry-on makes it less likely that a TSA agent will need to open your bag for inspection.
