Overall the stay and atmosphere was good, staff was great. Location was perfect. The only thing negative was that the AC was centrally controlled and it was very warm in the room all night . We called to change the temp and they said they did it but it never reflected on the thermostat so we had to sleep with the window open.

Ehhh!

Reasonably nice amenities and the rooms and common areas are well appointed. Included breakfast was tasty and adequate, but nothing too special. Strictly self- Service. No air conditioning, so slep with window open. As my room face the road, I had to wear earplugs. I might have well slept on a stone slab. Absolutely no cushion to the mattress. And, pillows were small and lumpy. Not bad for the price, but I wouldn’t stay there again.

1. Hotel is located 10 minutes to Serdika metro station and another 10 minutes to the main cathedral. Sofia is a walkable city so the location is ideal. 2. The bathroom is clean, modern, a great soaker tub, good lighting and thoughtfully offered dental kit, shower cap, shaving kit with sweet smelling bath products. 3. There’s also cloth slippers, a bathrobe & plenty of cupboard space. 4. Breakfast is very filling - eggs, cheese, pastries, juices, yogurt, cereal & good coffee 5. Housekeeping is prompt and refills the in-room bottle of complimentary water. Plus there’s kettle in the room but you may want to bring your own teas. 6. María at reception was helpful and polite. The only staff member that had a smile. 7. The bedroom is very dimly lit and the carpets and single cloth chairs look old and tired. In fact, the bedroom is a complete contrast to the modern bathroom. 8. There seems to be an unusual limit on linens as there is only one bed pillow, one hand towel and one bath towel & a teeny tiny bath mat. Not sure why they’re rationing linens, but extra towels and an extra pillow would be in line with other hotel practices. 9. While the bathroom soaker tub was excellent, the water splashes all over the floor requiring personal cleanup after every shower. Hence, a large bath mat or perhaps two bath mats are essential. 10. Hotel guest Wifi never worked for me - not once, so have a good EU data plan as backup

Co Op Hotel - Decent Value

Generally happy with our choice. We had been thinking it was the Coop horel - but it's seemed to be actually the Co-Op as they had pictures of the Rochdale Pioneers from the 18th century in the bedroom corridors. Aircon in our room seemed unavailable, both us and our frields seemed to have a choice of 'heat' or 'fan' (couldn't detect a difference on any 'fan' settings) and it was too noisy to open the window - lucily it wasn't really hot while we were there. Great to have a kettle and the breakfast was a bit hit and miss (they would heat one ban-marie (eggs) but not the other one (bacon etc). Lots of amenities in the room and products (although be very careful with the shaving kit!). Shower pressure was fabulous. Good location near the cathederal and mini market accross the road is well stocked. Bed was comfy and we were given another pillow (one in the cupobard had no pillowcase). Strange not to have a bar but you in the heart of a capital city so it was not an issue. Overall would probably stay again. Pictures (which confusted our friends in a different hotel) show a monerlithic modern glass fronted hotel - bit it's actually the 6 story period building in the foreground and the big building maybe offices etc.
