Sitting in the shadow of a colossal mountain, this town is decorated with majestic old streets and sprawling beaches.

Discover secluded bays and swim in the calm blue-green sea that borders the town of Sirolo. Wander around a town that has remained unchanged for hundreds of years and spend afternoons people-watching from charming cafés.

Make your way toward the rolling coastline and select from several idyllic beaches. A short stroll from the middle of town, Spiaggia Urbani is a great choice. This small curved bay is blessed with a backdrop of limestone cliffs with the lush vineyard-covered face of Mount Conero in the distance. Sunbathe and swim in the clear water or walk north to see the beach stretch around a headland and disappear into the distance. Lounge chairs are available to rent here. Purchase refreshments at the beach bar and restaurant.

After a peaceful morning, continue on toward the old town. Rows of pretty medieval houses and piazzas still stand here and are now filled with family-run delis, ice cream parlors and coffee shops. Explore this labyrinth of narrow roads and passageways or simply find a seat and admire spectacular views over the shimmering Adriatic Sea.

Pull yourself away from this sublime vantage point and head to Conero Golf Club, a 5-minute drive inland. This 18-hole course set among pretty woodland will keep all abilities happy, while the swimming pool is ideal for non-players.

With your swing perfected and the evening approaching, head back to town to select from the range of restaurants available. Authentic Italian pizza is always delicious and the local seafood is exquisite.

The town is on the east coast of Italy, a 3-hour drive from RomeOpens in a new window. Experience traditional Italian life with a stay at one of the guesthouses in the old town. Like much of the region, Sirolo is seasonal, with most businesses open between April and October.

Sirolo and other spots in Ancona offer ideal locations for all, with beautiful beaches and warm hospitality to suit any budget.

Sirolo @ passeggiata was gorgeous for gelati and a stroll. La Paranza Restaurant on the beach was delicious and perfect spot.

2/5 - Disappointing

would be fantastic if it were not plagued by the fact that the topography is so difficult with all up,and down steep mountain hills, and no parking anywhere, so they expect to walk miles uphill and downhill to beaches, restaurants, stores etc
