"This hotel is a good 10 minute walk from the train station near the ropeway. Rooms are dated and are standard Japanese size. The bathroom had a high step up into the bathroom and is very small and tight to move around. We found it hard to sleep as we could hear the people next door and the bright aircon lights lit up the room. The block out curtains unfortunately didn’t block out the morning light on the sides. "Our stay at Shiomachi Roya in Tomonoura was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. I was impressed by the renovations done to turn this old merchant house into an inn. I liked the design and decor. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Because this particular house (Roya) has only 4 rooms to stay in, the staff are located at another sister inn literally just around the corner, one minute away.
