It’s a shame that they allow smoking in the rooms because we are non-smokers and smoke particles cannot be completely eradicated from the room even with a room humidifier and spray fragrance. "It started off pretty bad, but the management took care of our concerns nicely. Tip: Do not get the lower end rooms, they are awful. The higher end rooms are extraordinary. So are the grounds. But if you come at night, note the parking lot is unlit and a kilometer from the front desk."

"Great place to stay for a visit to Kariuzawa. Next to the train station and they will hold your bags while you explore the town, then pick up your bag and head to the train station. Very helpful staff. The breakfast buffet was one of the best I’ve had in Japan- lots of local, traditional foods cooked from scratch. Such a treat!"
