The Getaway Cottage at Rocky Marsh Farm

The Getaway Cottage is a two bedroom 2 bath home located in a country setting yet only 3.5 miles from downtown Shepherdstown. It is a short ride to everything you want to do in the eastern panhandle area, including wonderful dining, hiking, white water rafting, and kayaking. Harpers Ferry is a short drive just 15 minutes away. After a day of sight seeing and adventure, The Getaway Cottage is a great place to call home.

The house is equipped with everything you need to have a comfortable and relaxing stay. We provide Sling for cable TV and have fast internet. The yard provides an open but private space for guests to relax and enjoy the front patio, grill, and fire pit.

Guests are also provided with full linens for bed and bath, cleaning supplies, a fully stocked kitchen, microwave, blender, and kitchen essentials. We also provide soap, shampoo, and conditioner (in case you forget yours!) The beds have soft memory foam mattresses, and there will be bottled water in the fridge upon your arrival. Additionally, we have a Keurig and an assortment of coffee pods and teas for your convenience.

Modern accommodations with easy access to nearby sights, shopping, restaurants, breweries, etc…disappointed we could not enjoy the outdoor fire pit due to burn ban but maybe next time!

Third time is still a charm

This was our third time staying at this property. It is perfect for spending a down day of reading, cooking or sitting around the fire pit. It is also a great home base for nearby activities such as hiking, shopping, or getting a massage. Close to so much history. Our favorite place to get away!!!!

Modern stay at Rocky Marsh

Great house for a meet up with our son off the Appalachian Trail. Home was spotless. Front porch made a nice spot to watch the world go by. Laundry was a huge plus. Only addition would be more pantry ingredients.

Wonderful Getaway!

Great spot! Spent the weekend with three girlfriends and had a blast. The home was spotless, cozy, modern, and with a very well-equipped kitchen. Beautiful, bright windows, excellent views, and warm, inviting decor. Owners were responsive but not intrusive; we had no issues during our stay. I can't wait to come back!

Total relaxation

Very clean, very quiet location but still close to everything. Easy drives to both Harper's Ferry and Antietam. Great small towns to visit, and wonderful restaurants close by. Be sure to make time to have an evening around the firepit.

What a great place!

We loved it! The design of the home is so comfortable! Extremely well appointed having everything we needed. Owner is super responsive and there isn’t a thing more we could have needed or wanted. Close to so much history and really great small towns. Super restaurants and phenomenal museums! Very quiet area but very convenient! Would stay again without question!

Peaceful retreat

Nicely appointed. Good bed pillows. Water softner a plus. Private yet not isolated. Seemed to be 10-20 minutes away from most activities of interest. Zeb was very prompt to answer questions when they arose. On the minus side..., BBQ had been ignored from possible lack of use,...No kleenex tissues in the bathrooms and no towel bar in the primary bed/bath. No reading light in the livingroom (except overhead)... all minor things in an otherwise exceptional property.

Beautiful home and centrally located

This home was exceptionally clean, easy to find and centrally located. We have rented a lot of VRBO listings and this one is very well kept. Everything you need and close to Antietam Battlefield, Harper’s Ferry, Sharpsburg, Boonsboro and more. They left us a bag of popcorn to enjoy which lead to a visit to the Mountaineer Popcorn Company local to Sherpherdstown so we could bring back gifts for our grandkids and for ourselves! Truly enjoyed our stay!

Wonderful stay!!

Lovely accommodations in a very beautiful area. The home was very clean and very comfortable! Thoroughly enjoyed the surrounding small towns, the history of the area and friendly people! Highly recommend for a peaceful and enjoyable stay.

Outstanding!

What a nice place to unwind! This is a very new, very well-built and very clean place to relax and enjoy the country air and atmosphere. It’s 15 minutes’ easy drive to the Antietam National Battlefield, and about the same to Harper’s Ferry. The house is very comfortable and the interior is bigger than the pictures made it look. A winner!

Great Spot and House!

Loved staying here! Extremely clean and comfortable. Close to so many quiet spots. Enjoyed the Potomac River and Antietam National Battlefield. Plus fun ice cream shops all over. House was lovely. Fire pit was fun. Would definitely stay again!

Beautiful home

Overall great stay. Truly beautiful home, much better than pictures. A couple of things less than perfect for us but may not be an issue for you. Very soft mattresses in all beds, we prefer firm and therefore uncomfortable for us. Water pressure in showers really low, which was a little frustrating. Property is gorgeous but right on a main road, lots of traffic passing by all day. Really high-quality windows and doors, so we were not able to hear any road noise from inside the home, but sitting on the front porch with a cup of coffee was not as relaxing as we had hoped. But the house itself could not have been better. Overall we had a great time and loved the nearby outdoor activities.

Pastoral retreat

Just a few miles outside of Shepherdstown WV you find yourself in rolling farmlands within reach of history & the charming town. This location has all the modern conveniences — for me a better explanation of the setup of the TV would have been helpful but of course that was not the most important reason to be there anyway!

Quiet comforts.

The home is so quiet and has everything a person could want to relax. The host makes very little joys ready to go. The coffee pods to real creamer in the fridge ready to go. The fire pit filled with wood and ready to light. Popcorn with many information guides to dive into. It may sound silly but I’m a light sleeping person at night, always trying to be quiet not to wake my husband. The extra room with the built in bunk beds and a flat screen TV was perfect!! I could move around quietly and fall asleep to the TV and relax, the bed was just as comfortable as the queen bed. Thank you for letting us enjoy your home. Maureen

A truly wonderful place that lacked nothing

Can't say enough about the condition of the property. It was a wonderful place to come back to after a long day at Antietam Battlefield and the Mystery ghost walk. Would definitely come back again.
