Wapa undoubtedly has a cult-like following. I have visited Ubud multiple times, read countless glowing reviews, and decided that on this trip I would experience what I now call the "Wapa Effect" for myself. With two locations—one in Ubud and another in Sidemen, which I plan to visit in a few weeks—I was eager to see whether the reputation lived up to the hype. It absolutely did. I was fortunate enough to stay during their twice-a-year Charity Auction Dinner, which was an incredible experience in itself and a perfect introduction to the heart and soul of Wapa. What became immediately clear is that the highly trained staff truly understands the art of hospitality. This is the reason behind the property's loyal following and why so many guests return again and again. Their ability to remember guests by name, anticipate needs, and remain consistently attentive without ever being intrusive is a rare skill. More importantly, every interaction feels genuine. Whether you are staying in a standard room or a luxury villa, the staff has a remarkable ability to make every guest feel special, valued, and appreciated. They create an atmosphere where everyone feels like a VIP. As someone who has traveled extensively around the world, I understand the difference between good service and exceptional hospitality. Wapa belongs firmly in the latter category.

We had a wonderful 9 nights at the Sebali Resort. The food was excellent throughout our stay with great menu choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The spa was also amazing and we had a couple of great full body massages by the experienced team. Srina, you have magic hands!! All the staff are so polite and accommodating, they are well trained and most speak English very well. There were only two things that weren’t great but one was not the fault of the hotel. The adjacent resort, the Kayon, was expanding and renovating. When you headed to either of the restaurants for meals you could see and hear all the machinery and tools being used. It ruined the atmosphere but it became amusing for my husband and I to watch the building practices. We thankfully couldn’t hear any of the construction work from our room, so we had a very peaceful stay and enjoyed listening to the sound of the waterfall as we fell asleep or relaxing by our pool. The only other issue for us was the bed. It was very hard, but Patek from housekeeping did his best to add an extra layer of softness for us. We still had a wonderful time and would return to the property, but would suggest the management invest in some new mattresses and maybe some sun cover by the private pools.
