I needed a hotel where I could stay for one night before meeting my cousin for a week long travel around Sri Lanka. It was close enough to the hotel and easy to get to. The staff were super nice and check in was easy. I had dinner at the restaurant that evening. The meal was taking a while to prepare so they offered me an appetizer on the house which I appreciated. The room was quite large. It was a great place to stay for a night.

Convenient and clean

I had read some not so great reviews before leaving however I found Amora Lagoon a lovely hotel. It is a hotel in another country so things aren’t always going to be exactly what you expect from a local hotel however I found it quite pleasant. The staff were friendly and helpful, the pool was clean and beautiful, the room clean and comfortable with air conditioning and only a few minutes drive to the airport. The shower pressure in two of the three rooms we stayed in was not fantastic but again this is common overseas. I wouldn’t want to stay in a room right near a function but other than that… a great place to stay. We stayed three separate nights.

I got there late after noon and was able to have a meal from the restaurant prepared which was delicious !The bathroom needed painting and the mattress on bed was not comfortable. Also kettle was broken. Otherwise room was very nice and clean and the staff were just wonderful!

Booked Room tired and not cleaned ! Cockroach on floor and tiny insects seen crawling around on bedsheets. Pillow cases and bedsheets had stains and unlaundered. Another room was offered was slightly better. Good shower and good breakfast

The rooms are well equiped, modern and clean. However, on arrival we were told there was a wedding and there would be loud music until 11:00pm. Given it was a wedding this was not an issue but it would have been courteous to message some days before which is possible through expedia. Unfortunately the music didn't actually stop until 12:30 and in addition, there was a significant amount of clear up noise taking place. The restaurant was unfortunately our worst meal of our two week sri lanka holiday. Overall, for a night before or just after a flight we would find a different place in the future.

Great arrival experience. WC was leaking and the floor was wet at the time of check-in. Broken water kettle and a telephone left in the room. Couple of great food and beverage staff in the evenings. Deshan was super helpful and courteous. Morning staff in the restaurant appeared to be very reserved and spent time chatting in groups in corners. They never even respond back for a greeting. I greeted them good morning on both days as I entered to the dinning room and no one greeted me back. Working telephone and a copy of the restaurant menu (even a QR code) in the room could be helpful for those who are interested in room service. Check-out time of the property listed as 12.00pm however, I was locked out while having breakfast at 8.30am.

Loud music blasting out from an engagement party when we arrived. This did finish late afternoon, then was followed by a marquee being demolished with very loud hammering still going on at 10.30pm until we complained and they finally stopped. Food was awful, sent our burgers back twice as not cooked through. Very limited choice. Not the last night in Sri Lanka we’d hoped for.

Very stressful stay. There was a wedding that was very loud and went on until just before midnight. As this is a hotel close to the airport I was hoping to get an early nights sleep as I had a 5.45am departure to the airport from the hotel. All I got was deep bass music from two locations in the hotel that rattled the windows. When I went down to complain to the manager I was told by three staff members that they didn’t know where he was. I opened the door of his office and there he was sitting at his desk!. I was super angry by this time and asked him to come to my room to listen to the music & how incredibly loud it was. He tried to make amends by giving me us a free airport transfer, but this didn’t change the fact that I wasn’t able to sleep until midnight.

Convenient hotel near international airport. Some noise from main road about 100m away. Price of food a little higher than most hotels in Sri Lanka but quality OK.
