I have stayed at the Hotel Monaco many times and have referred lots of family and friends here. Sadly I won’t be staying here again. After a year in quarantine I decided to treat my partner for a birthday surprise and a night at the Hotel Monaco.
First thing we noticed was their were no goldfish as usual. Second thing we noticed was the damage in the room. Damaged bed frame (ripped leather) and chair was stained (looked like a cigarette burn).
I Had to request robes which they brought up quickly but they weren’t the customary white fluffy robes, they were stiff and scratchy to the point of discomfort. They also did not fit anyone over a standard size. Could not wear.
The remote was broken which we struggled with for almost half an hour and called for assistance and waited 20 mins for a second remote which also did not work. After 20 more minutes I told them to forget about fixing the second one and we would forgo watching tv.
The thermostat was broken and we were unable to control any temperatures so ended up turning the unit off.
The fridge did not keep anything but luke warm. We had to throw out all ice our food.
No fan in the bathroom was weird.
Valet parking was steep, Considering you can park at the library for a day for $16
Ralph was great, staff were all friendly and professional.
To say that this surprise birthday gift was a disappointment is a huge understatement, your infrastructure is abysmal to the point we felt we had to say so
