"Wow - what a fabulous hotel! We loved our stay at this beautiful, historic boutique-style hotel. The rooms are large with comfortable bed and so much space. Such a charming, quiet, leafy neighborhood - we slept soundly. The main lounge area is warm and cosy with its beautiful 1930s fireplace (with a real fire lit in cooler months), leather couches, a many books to borrow along with 3 booths along the side and a long, wooden table where you can bring your laptop and do your work or meet friends. The outdoor front garden is beautifully designed and maintained and there's a separate, well-kept outdoor courtyard garden to also enjoy. Added to this are free to use bicycles if you want to cycle to the many nearby cafes or take a ride along the paved beach path past the Santa Monica pier and over to Venice Beach. We'll definitely return to this wonderful hotel!"

"The pictures are misleading. The alley is not as nice looking as this. Sea Blue hotel is just in the forefront of this picture and in the back are many more buildings and a steep staircase before reaching the beach. Everything about this hotel is meant to mislead. There are very few parking spots and the daily rate is higher than advertized at the registration counter. A note in the room pretends that it is the famous hotel California but when I asked the staff at the front desk, he was very uncomfortable trying to explain how it was a hotel in California but not the one from the song. There are no amenities. The decor is cute, but the room was oddly and not conveniently set up. The bathroom was clean but the design ancient and the shower very small."
