"Starting off hotel insisted on holding funds equivalent to another room when reservation was paid in full. They offered to cancel when I questioned it, but the hold was already applied and they don’t release quick enough to allow another room to be booked elsewhere. So we stayed. Room seemed ok but was crazy hot. Then the bathroom door wouldn’t close and latch. The toilet screws were filthy. There was moulding lifted in the bathroom. Then at night the main door had so much light coming around the edges from the hall the room was never dark and of course it’s a fire hazard and privacy issue. We tried to make the best of it but then discovered the breakfast was empty at 8:30a which was supposed to be available until 10a; and they refused to fill citing they didn’t have refills. No eggs. No sausage, no gravy for biscuits, no coffee and no milk for cereal. Literally all available was bread. When we tried to talk with a manager one wasn’t available. The front desk person asked ME to tell the kitchen staff how upset I was so they might work harder. THE MOST frustrating and disgusting experience. Oh and there were spiders and bugs in the indoor pool. Property was unkempt, and the bathroom
Door latch was literally because the frame didn’t align. So they’ve not repaired it for any other guests who might have cited in the last stays. Oh and kitchen trash was overflowing so people were leaving trash on dirty tables and not being cleaned up after."
"Super friendly staff, the most comfortable hotel bed, quiet/clean inside the rooms, & very convenient location!! Their parking is under construction, but had no problem finding parking on the street. Would definitely stay there again."
Secluded cabin in a Pine forest, just minutes away from Crystal Mountain
10/10 Excellent
"Very clean and cozy, perfect size for my husband and I. Within an hour drive of Traverse City and Sleeping Bear Dunes. The fire pit with firewood provided was a nice extra perk."
"It's cute. Do as I did: go to this expecting it to be reminiscent of a past era of travel but with modern upgrades and you will not be disappointed. I liked it a lot, although the bathroom is a bit outdated. Disappointed in the contact-less check-in; I would have enjoyed meeting the owner/operators, but with no staff around, you kind of feel a little funny. I like meeting people. Maybe that is different in season - I don't know. But pride in one's property and operation is best shown/shared through a friendly smile and welcome."
"This is obviously a loved hotel with plenty of history and staff who care about it and the guests.
It's been years since I've come across a hotel that was this clean.
The bar offered good food and drinks and Trivia Night was entertaining!
Special note: The water straight from the tap is better than any bottled water out there.
Absolutely would stay here again"
