The home is beautiful with lots of space between the 4 bedrooms. There are fun amenities like a steam shower and the pool and hot tub were great. There was even enough space to play a lot of croquet!
Absolutely Stunning Property, but.... there are Trade-Offs
The property and home are beyond compare. We have stayed at several top-notch vacation rentals and this was by far our favorite. The home is just so warm and welcoming, the backyard is idyllic, and the beds were comfy. The rooms were spacious and lovely!
All the photos were accurate.
BUT.
The kitchen -- which is stunning -- is not stocked for cooking or serving. For example, there are no casserole dishes, which I didn't know. I did ask in advance, so brought my own food processor and mixer. I had to borrow casserole and serving dishes from family. And I had to purchase plates, bowls and more at Target... we were provided 8 plates and 4 bowls for 6 guests. Which is doing dishes at least 3 times per day. So, to avoid that hassle, we purchased two more sets of plates and bowls... but that's not really fair.
In addition, we were provided with 8 bath towels, again for 6 guests. So, it was a lot of laundry to keep things clean over our 2 week stay.
There is a fair bit of deferred maintenance at the home. The dishwasher is fussy and ineffective, one of the ovens went on strike for a day (sadly, Christmas day) but recovered the following day. The shower handles in the main bathroom were loose and the hand shower actually fell off the wall. So... I guess that's pretty common with rentals. Things go wrong. But, at this price point I would prefer a higher standard.
Still... I would love to go back. The location is ideal. We had a wonderful stay.
What a peaceful and absolutely beautiful property! We had a four sisters plus family reunion of sorts—with folks coming from as far as Georgia and Seattle. My niece was performing in a play at North Coast Repertory—a couple minutes away—so it was the perfect excuse to spend a week together. We thoroughly enjoyed the luxurious accommodations and the pool/hot tub. We cooked dinners and grilled out one night. Our only complaint was the tight restrictions on having guests. Our two friends wanted to stop by and toast the 75th(!) birthdays of my sister and her best friend—but the rules of the property were that no more than 8 people were on the premises at any given time. So, my husband and I had to “take a hike” so that these two sweet little old people could take a peek for an hour. Wow. But other than that—FABULOUS!
This is our new favorite vacation house in California. We've been coming out here from Arizona for 20 years and have found our spot. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us.
