This is our second stay at Hacienda Cucuyo. It is such a hidden gem overlooking Samaná Bay. It has a limited occupancy which makes it perfect for a retreat style stay. It is quiet, comfortable, and very connected experience. Daniela is an absolutely terrific hostess! She welcomed us warmly and is the perfect host as is Victor and the rest of the staff. Our only complaint was the tiny ants that showed up in our luggage and bed on the first night do to our ground level apartment and the rain the previous day. Other than that our stay was epic. Our apartment had a skinny “single lane lap pool” with a view of the whole Samaná Bay Area. The breakfast was simple yet delicious. Be forewarned that the drive up isn’t for the faint of heart but the views the whole way are breathtaking. We can’t recommend this place highly enough and are looking forward to staying next year!

I recently stayed at Hacienda Cocuyo and overall had a beautiful experience. The location is absolutely breathtaking — the views of the ocean and surrounding hills are unforgettable, especially at sunrise and sunset. If you’re looking for peace, nature, and a place to truly disconnect, this is it. The staff was warm and welcoming, always willing to help and make sure we were comfortable. The atmosphere is very relaxed and eco-friendly, which gives the place a unique charm. The cabins are rustic but cozy, and you really feel immersed in nature. The food was good, especially breakfast, and the setting of the restaurant with the open views makes every meal special.

Staff was very kind, they only speak Spanish though. Older cabins with no AC but it was great anyways! Glamping with an amazing view. Lots of nature and animals. Breakfast was great! Would definitely recommend.

Vue incroyable et chambre propre. Le gros point negatif est sur le restaurant : pas de jus de fruit, reponse de l'etablissement "on est en basse saison". Menu du midi, il manquait les 2/3 des accompagnements, après avoir demandé le riz et la salade la note s'est élevé a 10$ en plus. Heureusement que je l'ai vu et que j'ai pu modifier cette erreur. Au final, l'hotel est vraiment beau et le personnel correct. Venir en haute saison, sinon vous n'aurez pas grand chose a boire et a manger

After a disappointing all-inclusive experience in Puerto Plata, Hotel Cocuyo in Samaná was an absolute Godsend. This place is truly one of a kind…understated, serene, and deeply special. Upon arrival, we parked and walked up to the hotel, where we stepped into a cozy lobby that felt more like a thoughtfully curated living room, books on the shelves, the soft glow of sunset in the background, the pool like glass, cocktail glasses clinking gently, and faint conversations in the air. Then the views hit you and they are absolutely breathtaking. We stayed in the Valle room: simple, spacious, and elegant in its minimalism. No TV but with views like this, you won’t miss it for a second. Everything about this place encourages you to slow down and take it all in. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuine. Fellow guests were quiet, friendly, and respectful the atmosphere felt calm and elevated without being pretentious. Mornings were my favorite: coffee in hand, wrapped in the stillness of rain, birdsong, and the distant call of cocuyos. Every corner of the property offers a stunning view, but the miradors are something else entirely, pure magic. This stay reminded me of the Dominican Republic I knew from my childhood summers — raw, beautiful, and unspoiled. Hotel Cocuyo captures captures that essence perfectly. I can’t recommend it enough.

No AC even though accommodations stated there was, the walls of the pools were filled with slime the water smelled gross. The water from the room kept changing in temperature either too hot or too cold, we got burned when we tried to shower. When we spoke to the administration they didn’t seem to care. It was a horrible experience would not recommend this place at all.

Me encantó el concepto, pero creo que el precio es un poco alto. Además, el servicio podría mejorar, ya que es un poco lento. Le doy 4 de 5 estrellas. Lo recomendaría porque la experiencia vale la pena y volvería, especialmente si hubiera un descuento.
