Τα ντουλάπια της κουζίνας μύριζαν μούχλα, χτιστά κρεβάτια με έντονη μυρωδιά μούχλας κάτω από τα στρώματα, το ψυγείο βρώμικο με σαπισμένα λάστιχα και δυνατό θόρυβο όταν λειτουργούσε, βεράντα με θέα σε έναν όμορφο κήπο η οποία δεν είχε καθαριστεί από την αρχή της σαιζόν, συνθήκες καθαριότητας τραγικές.
