The Elk House is the Quinault Rain Forest's best kept secret and we are back in business! This 2 bedroom, 2 bath open-concept home was built in 2006 and sits on 4 acres of private land for you to enjoy and explore. It's hard to decide where the yard ends and nature begins. Barbeque on the 280 sq. ft. covered porch and watch for Roosevelt Elk that often graze in the front field, sometimes as close as 30 feet from the house! Get cozy next to the gas fireplace under 17 foot vaulted ceilings and watch for bald eagle, black-tail deer and great blue heron--regular visitors of the property. Enjoy the outdoor fire pit area and stargaze on clear summer nights. Explore nearby Zeigler Creek, picnic under a giant Maple tree and take leisurely walks around the property. The Elk House property is tranquility at it's best!

If you want to venture out, drive, bike or walk the South Shore Road and discover nearby hiking trails, explore the World's Largest Spruce Tree, visit the famous glacier-fed Lake Quinault, or jump in your car or take a guided tour of the 31 mile loop drive into the Olympic National Park to see spectacular waterfalls, giant evergreen trees and wildlife. Whether you are here to experience outdoor recreation or just get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, the Elk House is the perfect place for you to rest and rejuvenate.

While staying at the Elk House you will enjoy all the comforts of home. A fully functional kitchen with double convection oven and gas cook top, full-size built-in microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator allows you to enjoy family dining in a private and pristine setting. The open-concept kitchen/dining room/living room creates a family atmosphere that can't be beat! Even nicer than it looked online. Very private, large yard. Very comfortable for two couples. It would have been nice to have tables or luggage racks in the loft, since we only stayed a few days, we didn't want to unpack, even though there is lots of closet space. We would stay there again.

Picturesque well maintained property in a quiet location with a lot to do around. We loved coming back and relaxing after hiking around the area- which has a lot of options which are all uncrowded and lovely. Was perfect for our family of 5. Internet service was plenty fast even for streaming. No cell signal on Verizon but you can drive 2 miles down the road if you need it.

We really enjoyed the incredible views and comfortable space at the Elk House! Wish we would have gotten to see some elk but loved the yard nonetheless. Very quick access to the Quinalt area activities. Ample kitchen space and comfortable beds. The home needs smoke detectors installed and could use some blinds upstairs, but otherwise we have no complaints!

We loved the serene setting and the opportunity to watch elk graze right on the property. Wish the seating on the porch had been more comfortable. Dishwasher was not working which is a small thing.

We enjoyed our stay at the Elk House and would come back again. It’s a great house and such a peaceful area. We didn’t see any elk, sadly, but enjoyed spending mornings and evenings on the porch. The WiFi worked great, and we were able to stream on the TV. The house is in a great area - easy drives to Lake Quinault, hiking, and more! The “grocery stores” near by are small so if you’re coming from a larger area it may be worth bringing groceries with you. A few things to note for future guests - there is a keurig but no kcups were provided so bring your own; same goes for coffee pot/coffee. We couldn’t figure out the air conditioning and there were no instructions to be found; it wasn’t that warm so I didn’t feel the need to reach out to the hosts about it, but something to note if you’ll be going in peak summer time. We hope to visit the area again in the future and would love to stay at Elk House again!

Nice house located in a field, off the beaten path of Quinault. Peaceful and quiet. Enjoyed sitting on the porch. Saw the herd of elk early one morning. The TV and dishwater were not working.

We saw a herd of 15 elk on the morning of our departure. What a treat! The place is perfect for a small family or 2 couples. It’s out away from traffic and noise. The tv is a large screen set with Direct Tv channels. My only suggestion is that the grill is in need of upgrading. We used it anyway but it’s showing it’s age and usage. This is our second time here and we’d return again as it’s near some of our favorite hikes.

We had a lovely weekend around Lake Quinault and the Elklodge provided a great home base. Very clean, well stocked, and close to everything in the area. Master bedroom on the lofted top floor is open to the living room but is visibly private.

Peaceful quiet wide meadow behind this bright and open house. Close to Quinault Lodge and Olympic NP. Owner was very responsive to our call about grill issues. We would suggest that the kitchen be a bit more stocked With spices and paper products like baggies and aluminum foil . The porch needs comfortable seating, 4 rockers to sit and view the property would be a great addition! Overall A great getaway.

We were excited right from the time of booking this property. We reached late in night and were greeted by an astounding view of the 'milky way' from the property. Amenities were all good as mentioned in the description. Thankfully the weather was great during our remainder of the stay. So much to explore around as well. Already recommended to my family and friends.
