Traditional Croft House, modern interior, in stunning landscape, near the coast.

Attractive discounts for bookings of 7 nights plus.

Open plan living with wonderful natural light in a traditional stone croft house. Willie Mcleod’s House sits detached in a crofted landscape with beautiful views towards the nearby sea and the hills.

Near midway between Staffin and Uig, Willie's is well placed for access to the coast and the Trotternish Ridge with it's spectacular and wondrous Quiraing rock formations.
Inside the classic picturesque whitewashed cottage exterior is a modern-living surprise – all air, space and light downstairs in the living area, with smart, contemporary furnishings and tasteful, sympathetic decoration. The wood-burning stove adds to the air of warm, comfortable welcome.

The kitchen and bathroom finish the ground floor accommodation in style and functionality, including a walk-in shower and seperate bath and an additional single WC. The kitchen is fully equipped and newly upgraded, including electric oven, hob, washer/dryer, fridge with freezer compartment, microwave and dishwasher.

Up the wide wooden stairs to 3 bedrooms – a (king-size) double, a twin and a single. We provide linen and towels. An initial basket of logs and kindling is also provided for the wood-burner. Boot room.

Off-road parking for at least 3 cars. Willie’s shares it’s large garden with our own Byre.

Skye's the Limit at Lorraines!
Where do I start? I guess first, the location, at the very north of Skye. Peaceful, serene, evenings with nary a sound but the sheep bleating in the distance. Second, the lovely Lorraine, who left us a hand written note on our arrival and baked us shortbread cookies to start our full day on Skye (during which my daughter became engaged at Neist Point). Third, the lovely remodeled Croft house, perfectly appointed and perfect for our every need. A truly exceptional experience for us in every way. If we could give 10 stars we would! Thank you Lorraine!

Comfortable living on the Isle of Skye
We spent two nights in Willie McLeod's house on Skye. The house is located way out on the peninsula, about an hour from Portree. It overlooks a sheep farm and far views of the sea. Be sure to reference Lorraine's instructions as GPS/SatNav might not work. The home is very comfortable. We enjoyed a fire one night because the evening was cool, but also had an impromptu picnic on the picnic bench the next (warm) afternoon. Lorraine was not at the property but she communicated with us so well that it felt like she was. We enjoyed the photographs of the massive renovation of the house to make it updated and comfortable. The house is within easy walking distance of some castle ruins and a pleasant hike along the hillside, but there isn't much else out there except for wild Skye. We got our supplies in Portree and thus did not need to leave again until we drove away to Oban. Just to note, there are 1.5 baths, but they are both downstairs, while all three bedrooms are upstairs. This was not a problem for us but might be for someone with mobility issues.

Skye is a magical place and staying at this property was the most wonderful experience! The property is located in the middle of sheep farms and gorgeous scenery! The house has been renovated and beautifully decorated. The host, Lorraine, was extremely helpful and responsive to all of our inquiries. It could not have been better and we would highly recommend this property!

An unforgettable experience
It was an absolute delight staying at Lorraine's property. Her hospitality was one of the highlights, from a lovely welcome letter to helpful recommendations and more, she is a delightful host. And the property, myyyyy gooodnessss, the property. Absolutely stunning. Sheep, cows, and rabbits everywhere, incredible views, and the friendliest man, Alan, taking care of the sheep. We had a wonderful time and wish we could have stayed for a month.

Homely in an amazing Highland setting
This is our second stay at Willie McCleods cottage . Which says we mean it is a perfect place for people like ourselves to stay . We traveled with our Working Springer Spaniel & Patterdale . They could watch from the windows of the cottage , for hours at the rabbits and backdrop . It’s set in a working farm land with local shepherd Alan tending to his sheep & his team of several collies . With this in mind , always sensible to lead walk in the immediate vicinity. 10 minutes walk and you are immersed in open countryside. The Quiraing Hills very clearly in sight straight at the front of the cottage . I photographed two sea eagles from here. The cottage with wood burner and full equipped kitchen makes for a pleasant comfy stay . Half wished for bad weather to enjoy a lazy indoors day . But we have a habit of bringing blue skies with us .. and whether it’s an early sunrise walk to the bothy on Rhuba Hunish or a very short 5 minute car journey and you are set on track for a walk through the Quiraing Hills . We’ve travelled quite a bit to far stretches of South America etc.. But wow .we are blown away by the walks local to this cottage . Looking forward to seeing Alan the shepherd in lambing season next year. Overdue a wee dram with him . Thank you for letting us stay again Lorraine 😊

Could have been much better
Pros: property was clean, 2 bathrooms were a definite plus, washer/dryer were nice to have. Close to Rubha Hunish trail. Cons: when we got there the heat had not been turned up, the setting on the wall register was 8 C (46 F). It was a cold, windy and rainy day so we were ready to be warm. We all kept our coats on and started a fire. (But if you used all the wood you had to pay to get more). The owner had texted me and knew we were coming at 5 so we were not sure why the heat wasn't on. The house really didn't warm up for more than 24 hours. There was a very strong cold draft coming in from under the door we blocked with pillows. Hot water only from 7am-9am and 4pm-7pm. Shower has its own hot water but was so difficult to regulate you couldn't stand under it as it was either cold or scortching. One in our party took a bath because she couldn't get the shower temp to regulate. Owner was contacted about the heat and when hot water was available but she only gave hours for water and didn't adress heat. Listing make house appear much much closer to the coast than it actually is. Would not stay here again
