"Stayed in the Estrella room, it was beyond beautiful. Long scenic walk to the room, kitchenette, and filtered water in the full sized fridge. Staff was very kind and helpful, since the hotel was 6 hours from SJO we had to leave at 4 am and to our surprise there was a staff member there to assist with checkout. There are no key drop-boxes, so I was worried about how we were going to return it. Overall an amazing stay."

"Very nice, small and basic hotel so do not expect any special amenities (like gym) but there is a pool, which we used extensively. It’s is located very close to the beach in Carmen, restaurants and shops. They only serve breakfast there but it was good. Staff was amazing and very helpful (especially David, Luis and Astrid), there was a problem with AC but this issue was resolved promptly and professionally. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed our time in Santa Teresa by The Beach."

"My family just returned from beautiful Costa Rica. Our stay at Playa Carmen was perfect. The check in/out process was flawless. Carlyn answered all questions in record time. Ginny the housekeeper was such a gift. She met us the day we arrived and showed us everything we need. She comes every day, cleans and does your laundry. We seen an abundance of birds and two species of moneys just sitting in the back porch looking at the pacific right In Your back yard. The pool was great to come back and cool off from a day of touring. There is mango trees and bananas right on the property. It’s gated and felt very safe. Resteraunts were phenomenal. We went on a fishing charter with Jason Tours, Migel was our captain and put us on a ton of fish. Thank you Carlyn and Ginny!!"

"Perfect house for beach, birds, and jungle. The views are spectacular. The house is set up such that it takes advantage of the ocean breeze. There is AC in the bedrooms, but we didn't need it. Nice to feel and hear the outside day and night. You can walk to a beach and a few restaurants. Other beaches, restaurants, and a great grocery store are a few minute drive away. The owner and caretaker were very helpful in setting up tours, surf lessons, and ATVs. Totally recommend this place!"

"Exceptional home in an ideal location, away from the noise and dust in Santa Teresa yet close enough for easy access to beaches and restaurants. The host, Ruth, lives next door and was super helpful. The house was very well equipped, the pool was large and clean, and we loved the authentic community feel in Mal Pais. The Mal Pais beaches are not the best but it's a short drive to Playa Carmen and Playa Hermosa, which are both incredible. Montezuma is also only 30 mins away and is a wonderful day trip. Highly recommend!"
