"This wonderful hotel was a great mix of modern and old time charm with wonderful intricate details including a poor over coffee service in the room and a water bar with fresh clean water. The bedding was outstanding and the chirping birds and flowered patios were glorious! The managers were exceptionally gracious. What a lovely experience! I will be back for sure! A lovely, lovely stay!"

"Came to check in and there was a power outage through no fault of the lodge. At the time there was no running water but I was charged $2.00 each for a bottle of water. I understand when things are beyond your control but you should make some compensation or rate reduction for inconvenience. The power did come on at 9:00 pm that night which was great. My boys and I loved the cabin and the price was very reasonable. We brought our pet and the person at the front desk was very worried that we wouldn’t come back to pay the extra $40 since it wasn’t billed yet and the register wasn’t working without power. He drove by the cabin an hour later to let me know their generator had the register working so I could go pay for my dog fee. I was there for two nights and fully intended to pay the fee since I had emailed earlier in the week reminding them that I needed to add it to my cost. Overall my kids and I rated the stay an 8 out of 10, there were just a couple of things that could have been better"

"Every staff member I encountered was very friendly, and helpful. The rooms and public areas were tidy and clean. Also, when was the last time you stayed at a motel that offered a free breakfast including the usual waffles, bagels, fresh fruits, cereals etc. also had made to order eggs, including fried, scrambled, or omelet? I was pretty amazed. I will definitely stay there again. Larry Z"

"Pam was friendly and helpful. The place was just as we hoped. With the exception of the charging station. We could never get it to work. But we forgot to mention it when Pam showed up to fix the refrigerator and as efficient as she was, pretty sure she would have been able to fix it. Loved the views and privacy AND kitchen and bed. The bed was more comfortable than we expected. Would highly recommend if you want a retreat into nature."

"Violet House at Zenzen Gardens was a clean, charming, and affordable 3-day getaway for us. Cindie (and her delightful shadow, Ginger the dog) was a gracious host. The cottage was pleasantly cozy with a comfortable bed; the quiet property is a beautiful 12-minute drive from the lovely downtown Paonia. We enjoyed the grand view from the veranda and tasting award-winning wines from Alred Eames Cellars. The only reason for an overall "good" rather than "excellent" rating is that the shower (clean with with plenty of hot water) is outdoors, attached to the cottage, and the restrooms are portapotties -- exactly as advertised, by the way, and largely why the cottage is such an affordable option and such a good value. Highly recommend."
