"The location of this property is truly its best feature. It is situated in a fantastic spot within the village and offers a particularly beautiful view. Unfortunately, the state of the house itself was a major disappointment.Upon arrival, we found the house in an unacceptable condition. The overall cleanliness was very poor: the bins had not been emptied, there were stains on the toilets, hairs were found throughout the house, and the floors were filthy. Even the kitchen was neglected, with a dirty refrigerator and cutlery that was visibly soiled. It was so bad that we had to clean the place ourselves before we could feel even remotely comfortable.Furthermore, several things were broken or in poor condition. We encountered issues with the lighting, the night lock was faulty, and the window frames were in bad shape. To make matters worse, the Wi-Fi did not work at all during our entire 6-day stay, which was very inconvenient.A final tip for future guests: be prepared for high parking costs. During the weekend, parking nearby is nearly impossible, and you might have to park kilometers away.In short: a location with great potential, but the lack of hygiene and basic maintenance made this a very unpleasant stay. "

"We had an amazing stay at the house. Its a great, very relaxing location in the foot hills, with a cute town close by and other activities. The town is not really walkable given the roads. We enjoyed the house, cooked on the outdoor grill twice (was a great experience), and used the pool daily. "

"We had the pleasure of spending a few days at Casale del Gelso last week. It would be impossible to overstate the quality, cleanliness, charm and attention to detail the host puts into the house and the guests.Firstly, the house was impeccably clean, each room is an ensuite, the common area is delightful and the kitchen well-equipped. It was perfect for a large family like ours to share with the perfect mix of privacy and communal living within the space. The decor is light and airy and very homey. The outdoor spaces are fantastic. Clearly avid gardeners, the back garden is like a series of inviting little rooms. There are many different seating areas, but the patio immediately off of the back is accessible to the house and we spent several very enjoyable nights eating and drinking and grilling there. The owners made sure the hot tub was ready for us to use and their attention to detail and to our comfort and satisfaction was truly amazing. What a perfect Italian country retreat. The immediate property is surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. The views are spectacular.A few notes: definitely make sure you have cars for everyone because it is not really walkable. Even the train into Rome is far enough away that one needs to drive to it. The nearby towns are very charming and Lake Nemi is very pretty.I recommend Casale del Gelso wholeheartedly and would give it six stars if I could."
