"It is a 3/5 2-Star Hotel. The lobby is inviting, the front desk staff on all three interactions I had were less than focused, but you honestly get what you pay for. The vending machines are significantly over-priced. When you arrive, there is a IGA about 2 blocks away and a dollarama 3 blocks away. Check in, drop your stuff, and go stock up. Your mini fridge and freeze is good - there is a microwave in the laundry room (?) rather than in each room. The rooms themselves are a combination of 90s furniture and peeling wallpaper/grime, but I will say the shower seemed newer and was in fantastic working order. The biggest complaint I have is the SMELL in the rooms that is noticeable the minute you open the door. Suggest picking up odor remover if you're smell sensitive at the Dollarama or IGA. If you're staying longer as well your clothes will also smell. The rooms are large but poorly lit - and when you use the lamps you immediately notice the stains. It is a 2-Star Hotel that could use a little more care on the maintenance end of things - but you get what you pay for. If you're looking to just have a place to sleep and nothing else - you've found it. If you are sensitive to smells or will be coming back to the room intoxicated - I'd suggest the smaller rooms (but better overall conditioned) Hotel Zero about 2 blocks away. It is a great budget option for students - but I will not be returning on future trips."

"An exquisite hotel nestled in the historic and bustling center of Old Montreal, L'auberge du Vieux Port was a fantastic stay. The staff are beyond professional and polite, helpful to a fault and catering to every need. The accomodations were spacious and cozy, and the location is second to none. A real gem. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area and I cannot wait to stay there again myself!"
