"Stayed for a few nights, coming back late at night and leaving early in the mornings. The private room was clean and the shared areas and bathrooms were also clean. I did wish the private room had a lockable door, but lockers are provided for free. The hostel was nice and quiet at night and I didn't wake to loud noise while sleeping. "This is a traditional ryokan, and my second stay. First time was back in 2016 by myself. This time came here to stay with my wife. Bery friendly staff. I had a much better experience first time around, two ladies came and showed me how to change into a yukata and prepared my bed. Everything was more personal, this time they were a little busy. Too many guests. Still amazing experience. You can reserve the onsen for yourself privately. The dinner experience is a little expensive but worth it. "

"This was listed as adults only which I interpreted as no kids. I booked 7 nights and included the $2/day in-breakfast. It soon became clear this small and nice hotel was suitable for couples as well with not only daily rates but partial day rates; this apparently is fairly common in Japan with the "adults only" tag.
