Oitavos Dunes Golf Course

Booked and paid for a riverside view room but what I received didn't quite match the listing. The view was largely blocked by the Military Museum (under construction), and my room was on the side that doesn't face the river at all. I had to lean into the window at an angle to see any water. The complimentary bottle of wine listed in the booking never appeared either. Tissues were barely replenished. I called the front desk, was told I did have a riverside view, then that they'd "check the next day" about relocating me. Nobody followed up, so I raised it again myself the next morning. Staff felt a little standoff-ish but ultimately moved me to a lower floor with an actual river view, though with fewer amenities than the first room (no chocolates, no notepad/pencil). That second room then had an ant infestation from the wall below the window. Reporting it, I was asked whether I wanted someone to look, rather than it being handled automatically with no apology or offer to switch rooms. Staff sprayed the area and asked me to stay out for 10 minutes; I returned to a strong chemical smell that lingered. Both rooms lacked slippers and liquid hand soap (bar soap only). On the positive side, the porters and breakfast staff were lovely, and the location above the metro/train station is excellent, if occasionally a little noisy from train vibrations. Given the gap between what was booked and what was delivered, I'd think twice before booking this room type again through Expedia.

Wonderful staff. Wonderful location. The beds and pillows were the most uncomfortable. The cups didn’t fit the coffee machine. No face towels or loofah.
