"The floors were dirty…the single bed rooms were tiny…the pillows were tiny…the AC filters were dirty…our shower rod was coming out of the wall (dangerous)"

"First the good, staff was amazing, friendly and helpful. Breakfast, good variety, great staff, fresh. We had a lovely view out our room window. The bad, room was not clean, had not been vacuumed after the last guest. Shared areas were also very dirty. It was graduation weekend so I understand not being able to keep up, but we stayed 2 nights, there were Cheetos in the elevator that were never cleaned up, floors outside elevator were covered with dirt, were not mopped all weekend. The carpet was very dirty. There was mold on the bottom of the shower curtain and black sludge around the sink and bath fixtures. We paid a premium for 3 rooms to it being WVU graduation, 3xs the average cost. Besides being dirty the hotel was not well maintained, for example the door handle to the pool fell off in my hand. The gym door lock was also broken."

"I booked thru expedia and was put in the lodge. I thought no big deal at first. The lady at the desk told me to "go up the ramp, make a left and it down that hall." She failed to tell me all the way down the hall, through another door and down the steps. So after I made this long trip down and back, I asked if I can park my car back there. She also told me I could bring my car around to the door but failed to tell me the keys don't work on those doors. So, I drove back around to the front and was told "sorry, you;ll have to park near the front door of the lodge and walk all the way down the hall through the other door and down the steps with my luggage. Let me add, I am handicap! I asked to get a different room in the resort and she said "it will cost you double." I am very displeased with the way I was treated by Mountaineer employees. I try not to make my disability and issue, but when I asked for some help with the situation not one employee had any respect for my issue."

"The only issue was. The hotel charged me also along with Expedia. I disputed the charge with my credit card company. Just sad I have to check all the time."

"Our check in went smoothly, and the front desk attendant was nice. Our room was to be an accessible room and smoke free, and it wasn't on both counts. Our room smelled so much like smoke that it affected my breathing, even though there was a non-smoking room sign on the desk. Everything reeked of stale smoke. The carpet was dirty. There was food and crumbs under the mattress, when we lifted it up to look for bugs. The bathroom toilet broke and didn't flush well. The shower wasn't a walk-in, it was a tub. That's hard for someone who needs access to the shower. The tiny little shelf on the wall in the bathroom wasn't attached. The wall bar by the toilet was loose. The corners were dirty. When we called housekeeping to help with the toilet, they just walked right into the bathroom when my husband was getting ready - no announcement. The hallway carpet was dirty with something that was spilled and not cleaned up. The breakfast lady was rude when asked a question about one of the food items available. Overall, this was a very bad experience for my family. I always read the reviews before booking anywhere but this time the reviews failed me! If it wasn't WVU's graduation weekend and there was other availability, we would have packed up and left. If there was a way to get my money back, I would be asking for that!"
