Labor Day shenanigans at Lincoln Beach. Lincoln Beach served New Orleans' African-American community during the time of segregation. You have to hop the levee/fence, cross the (active) train tracks, and then find one of the the trails that leads to the water. This is a view from the outside of part of the old arcade, a lingering reminder of what used to be. Unfortunately, the whole area is littered with trash as its not maintained by the city or the railroad locality. "The property is in a truly old home, but they have done a great job to update it and make it comfortable. It has the feel of a hostel, but definitely higher quality than your average hostel. "We stayed with our teenage son. The cottage is great: it's right on St. Charles but tucked away behind another house so there's almost no street noise in the cottage. The cottage has a great kitchen and sitting area and the bedrooms are comfortable and spacious. The interior designs is cozy and fun. We would definitely stay again!"
