If it's your first time traveling during COVID-19, you'll notice a raft of new restrictions and rules in place. Follow these tips and make your trip to Ninstints a smooth one:

• Investigate if any travel restrictions apply to your destination and origin before locking in a flight. Also check if there are any special conditions you'll need to follow on arrival, such as mandatory quarantining.
• Keep your face mask on even during airport screening. A TSA officer will require you to lower your mask temporarily for identification purposes.
• To decrease the risk of cross-contamination, position your boarding pass on the reader yourself and then hold it up for inspection. Do not hand your pass directly to a TSA agent.
• You are now permitted to take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your carry-on bag. You'll have to remove it for X-ray scanning.
• Empty everything from your pockets, like your wallet, phone and small change, and put them in your carry-on instead of into bins. This will reduce handling during screening.
• Transport your food items in a clear plastic bag and also put them in a screening bin. Separating food from your carry-on makes it less likely that a TSA employee will need to open your bag for inspection.

While flying in the middle of a pandemic can be slightly daunting, airlines have worked around the clock to protect the well-being of passengers and cabin crew. These are a few carriers that have introduced changes:

• Air Canada - this airline is known for conducting passenger temperature checks and cleaning with disinfectant.
• WestJet - this airline is known for cleaning with disinfectant and electrostatic cleaning.
• Pacific Coastal Airlines - this airline is known for providing passenger masks and cleaning with disinfectant.
