Checkin process is the worst I have ever experienced outside of Russia. First a 5 min wait to speak to a receptionist who doesn't even take name and says take a seat for 5-10 minutes. Eventually called up for check-in. Give name, ID, credit card as usual. But no, they need itinerary number, so give that. But no, they can't find it. They search by the ID I gave in the first place like a normal check in and now they find it. Next they want immigration date from passport. No other hotel I've used in India needed this, but fine, let me spoon feed the stamp for them on the passport I already handed over. Now they need the visa which is evisa, so I show the image. This was good enough for immigration at the airport but apparently the immigration security bar for Hotel Ginger is higher than getting into India itself! They need full electronic copy of the visa emailed to them. But I need wifi to email. Sorry sir no wifi until checkin - Kafka would be proud! Now the receptionist puts me on a Hotspot and I email. Next I need to pay. Except I already paid through Expedia. Next they say no Amex. I show them the line item on my Amex with Expedia taking payment already and magically the problem disappeared. So either the usual scam to avoid Amex processing fees, or worse an outright theft attempt to double charge. At best, nickel and dime stuff from a place that charges over $100 a night in this market.

I had a wonderful stay at Ginger Hotel, Goregaon, Mumbai. The highlight of my experience was the breakfast service — truly exceptional! The Indian buffet spread is excellent with a great variety of delicious dishes to choose from each morning. What made it even better was the outstanding service from the staff, especially Raman. He is incredibly professional, courteous, and attentive. Raman makes sure everything runs smoothly and guests are well taken care of — his hospitality really stands out and adds tremendous value to the experience. The rooms are basic but the staff do their best and make the stay comfortable. Highly recommend this hotel, and a special thanks to the breakfast team for making mornings so delightful!
