  • Welcome to your dream getaway in the heart of Dolly Sods wilderness in the wild and wonderful WV. This brand new 3-bedroom house/cabin offers modern comfort and privacy.

    Perfect for family or groups featuring two queen beds (1 in each bedroom upstairs) and one full bed (on the main floor). Freshen up in the two bathrooms that include showers and washer and dryer after your hiking adventures.

    The open-concept living room with a tall, vaulted ceiling, wood burning stove, luxurious velvet sofa, and soft scone light fixtures give a feeling of luxury surrounded by nature.

    The house is 10 min drive to the best hiking trails in Dolly Sods. Less than 1 hr drive to Canaan Valley, Black Waterfalls Park, Seneca Rock, and much more.

    Whether you’re relaxing indoors or planning your next adventure, this gorgeous home offers a welcoming retreat. We'll be available to answer any questions while you stay at our place.

This home has the best stocked kitchen of any I’ve ever stayed in. Everything in the home is very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the fire pit and dining outside and the beautiful indoor dining table was ideal for our crew during a thunderstorm. The drive to the top of the mountain is quick and easy. My 84 year old father says this is his favorite place on earth and I am so happy to have found this cabin so that he can continue to enjoy Dolly Sods safely at his age. This is our second time staying in this home and I don’t expect it to be the last. Everything is just perfect!

This is a great place! So quiet; beautiful scenery; lovely cotton sheets and towels; and it really is a well-stocked kitchen (some rentals say it, but this owner really knows what makes a well-stocked kitchen). The beds were comfy, and we had some of the best sleep we've had in months. The owner put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into the house, and it shows. If you visit, please show maximum respect to this home, and be sure to read the delightful coffee-table book on the home's creation. I've been hearing about Dolly Sods from friends for years, and from the home it's a short drive to the Dolly Sods plateau with breathtaking vistas and about 10 different trails. If, like us, you don't know a lot about Dolly Sods, you should know a few things. The house is about 2.5 miles up an unpaved forest road from a paved state highway. We were glad to have a Subaru Forester with AWD and high clearance; we saw a few compact cars struggle to avoid bottoming out in a few spots. These were dry weather days.The other thing that surprised us was that the owner harvests rainwater to supply the house. So, you need to bring your own water for consuming and cooking. It wasn't a big deal at all. I just had to break my muscle memory everytime I went to fill a pot for cooking.If we'd stopped to think about, both probably should have been obvious - especially from the home's title, Modern House in the heart of Dolly Sods wilderness
