Casa Galeria was the first art gallery in Merida. Preserving it's historic roots and artistic past the house features 4 bdrms, 4.5 bths, 3 green spaces, multiple lounging areas, featuring old Murals, ancient stonewalls and a lagoon style pool surrounded by huge palms. Guests can relax in the numerous covered patios, work in the study or get a massage in the spa room. Casa Galeria combines old world elegance with modern conveniences like whole house filtered soft water with good water pressure. All bedrooms have wifi, A/C, ceiling fans and their own private in-suite bathroom. The house is on a huge deep lot with many large mature trees on one of the prettiest streets in the historic district. The house has 16 foot ceilings and stone walls 2 feet thick in some areas. Like many historic Colonial homes almost all the rooms open to other areas of the house through original 10 feet doors that flank every room. The entry and the living room front the street side, and have doors leading to the study and a covered interior patio. Past that is the inner entry courtyard with a gorgeous fountain flanked by tropical foliage. The first two bedrooms open to this garden courtyard and have views of the small garden and a small breakfast patio. Next, the dining room and kitchen separate the inner courtyard from the central patio and pool area. The dining area has an antique farm house table and comfortable chairs at one end and a coffee/tea/wine bar at the other end. A pass-through window and tiny arched passage lead to the small but utterly charming galley kitchen. Past the dining room is the large central patio area with a deep lagoon style pool with seating areas at both ends. The third bedroom, The Blue Room, is conveniently located close to the kitchen and coffee and close to the pool for midnight dips. The pool area is a Tuscan style retreat. There is also a half bath off the pool that houses the laundry closet that guests are welcome to use. A beautiful staircase leads to the Terrazzo Studio Apartment upstairs. It includes an ex-large bedroom, large cover patio with gorgeous views, a kitchenette, and a garden bathroom. Finally, the far back of the property meanders through an ornate iron gate to a large garden, and old art workshop with a hammock, comfy patio furniture and a fountain with fish and aquatic plants. The whole property is relaxing, comfortable and filled with the green of nature. If you want to experience history, art, and authentic Mexican Colonial magic - Casa Galeria is for you.
