There is much to like about the Crest Apartments on Barkly. If you are looking for value for money and happy for older apartments that have various levels of upgrade, these are for you. We were initially concerned given the wide range of reviews, but just remember you are not checking into 2025 new, you are checking into clean, comfortable and well presented. Staff were friendly and our apartment was regularly cleaned over the 4 nights of our booking. Beds were comfortable. Our 3 bedroom apartment had a toilet separate to the bathroom and a washer/dryer in the bathroom. It even had a modern spa bath. However my other apartment, while similar, did not have that feature. A good value for money option, with a close tram into the city or down to St Kilda proper. Lots of eating options and a Woolworths (small version) about 10 minute walk away.

Liked: Cleanliness
Rooms were clean and roomy but needed to have coffee or tea bags in room with little long life milk
Had a lovely family stay in 3 bed apartment. Staff were friendly and unit was very clean. Building is old but it's really well placed for St Kilda, the park and the city. Would definitely stay again.
The apartments are separate from the hotel. Clean. Has what you need. Didnt advise there is only stairs & no lift. Not good being on the top floor with an injury that can’t do stairs well.
Otherwise good for the price.
Enjoyed our stay in the apartment, bed was comfortable and easy to access the apartment . disappointed that we paid for parking when we didn’t have too as it was complementary with our stay in the unit. Also we’re not informed of $300 refundable deposit prior to booking for incidentals although there is no mini bar in the apartment.
Older accommodation, not all parking is secure. Bedrooms do not have TV. Overall clean and staff were good

Served our purpose for an overnight-er.
The apartment itself was very spacious and not cramped or small at all, but definitely showed its age.
Great to have onsite parking available for a fee but The car park definitely tests tour driving ability if you drive an suv. Tight is the only word to describe it with 20pt turns to get in and out.
Location is great and in walking distance to restaurants and supermarkets etc but the traffic noise is very intrusive and loud.
Chosen for its location in relation to an event and for 2 bedrooms 3 beds and price but I wouldn’t necessarily stay again for the same event.
Warm and comfortable though the windows could do with thicker curtains for the winter.
I would've recommended the radiant panel heaters over their very powerful and easy to use dual system air con, while it's clearly a beast, it's an inefficient form of heating that fades the minute it's off to the plus it dries you out something shocking!
They have spa baths as standard! Fantastic!
Probably isn't the fanciest place out there, but for nice location,
Stayed in the apartments near the CNR of St Kilda junction. An eclectic mix of '30's old ( building, floors, doors, blinds etc. and new ( carpets, bed, stove, fridge etc. ). Tv remote was missing a battery, smoke detector was missing it's battery, venetian blind in lounge was broken & dirty. Wouldn't stay there a second time but for ease of getting into melb.cbd and the staff being so helpful and understanding, we're more than happy to recommend as a one night stop over
Firstly, the location is excellent if you need access to St Kilda and parking is a good price.
However, that’s about as good as this review can get. This review is for the serviced 2 bedroom apartment:
1. Check in time is 2pm but our room was not ready until 3:45. We had to wait in the lobby for almost an hour.
2. The bathroom looks nothing like what is advertised. It is a patch up job, and had a broken toilet seat. You can not change the height or direction of the shower head.
3. Carpet stains
4. No elevator access but luckily we are capable enough of taking our own luggage. We were not offered help.
5. A one hour late check out was provided and any extension is $50 per hour after that.
6. Batteries in one remote were flat. We had to remove one set so that we could use the TV in the bedroom.
7. Blinds in the master could not be opened.
8. Buffet breakfast food is average. Expensive for what was on offer. The staff in the dining room were very kind though.
9. Parking is SUPER tight. Advice, do not to take anything bigger that a small SUV. Our Ford Captiva was a challenge to navigate around the poles and into the tight spaces.
Overall, we spent $400 on room, $20, parking and $120 for breakfast (we understand food costs have gone up and made this choice), but it was not worth it. What a shame.

Handy location, parking very tight. Accomodation was not open plan but comfortable
Serviced apartment was quite spacious. Parts of the apartment were run down. Some of it looked nothing like the photos, particularly the kitchen and bedroom. Old, thin, single pain glass windows like paper in terms of noise reduction.
Did have a bed with dirty linen, also no lift to take luggage up to 3 floor

When we booked. Did not look like pictures online. No towels hand towels in room had to ask 2 times then the next day the room was not serviced at all until we called to ask why
Worst stay ever , totally mistreated , dirty filthy place forks and cutlery where not clean and the staff at desk do nothing to help with anything at all
On arrival, we walked into a police eviction of someone staying there.
It was extremely loud during the night, lots of parties happening.
Second night there was another police eviction and a fire alarm/evacuation at 3am in the morning.
On the third day, a mouse ran through the living room behind the fridge in the kitchen then back out, past our 5 month old daughter playing on her mat, down the hall not to be found. Staff offered us the room under ours or a free breakfast…
Our two bedroom apartment was very spacious, did smell of fresh paint but was liveable.our apartment was right on the road side and was very noisy, didn’t get much sleep but the mattress was good. No plug for the spa, so couldn’t use it.
