The COVID-19 outbreak has changed how we travel, but it hasn't deterred our passion for exploring. Here are a few tips on how to handle the new challenges of traveling:

• Research if any travel restrictions apply to your destination and origin before booking anything. Also check if there are any special conditions you'll need to follow on arrival, such as testing and quarantining.
• When you go through airport screening, do not remove your face mask. You will be asked to lower it briefly for ID purposes. Travelers who refuse to wear a face mask may face civil penalties and may also be denied boarding.
• Do not hand your boarding pass (paper or electronic) directly to a TSA officer. Rather, you should place the pass on the scanner and then hold it up so the agent can inspect it.
• TSA now permits passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on luggage. This will need to be removed from your bag at the X-ray machine for screening.
• To minimize handling during screening, place items such as your phone and loose change into your carry-on instead of the bins.
• Transport your food items in a clear plastic bag and also put them in a screening bin. Keeping your food separate from your carry-on means it's less likely a TSA employee will need to open and touch your bag for inspection.
