"Our aloha cabin was really lovely and comfortable. It was also super clean. The kids loved the pools and waterslide. We loved the whole park. There is a bowling club next door (food not great) or cheeky dog restaurant across the road (food great) which was handy but I would have loved a cafe on site or even just coffee. That was the only thing missing for me. Also if you could pick this park up and put it in shoal bay that would be even better cos I didn’t love the location."

The Lucky Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"The Hotel is very well located for sightseeing around Newcastle . Although the light rail has a limited area of travel, it stops right outside the Lucky Hotel. This made it very easy to arrive quickly from the airport (via bus and then light rail). We arrived early at the Lucky, and team members were very helpful and our room was ready and available to us with only a short wait . We enjoyed a meal at Lucky Hotel (very good pizza) and also used our discount card for Neighbours Cafe for a lovely breakfast. The hotel is literally across the road from Tower Cinemas which was handy when there was a little rain and cold weather. The light rail extends in the other direction a couple of stops to make the walk to Newcastle beach and Fort Scratchley a little quicker, although nothing was very far from our "Lucky" base - short walks also to the impressive Newcastle Art Gallery, the Museum (with the must see Mr. Squiggle exhibition), Civic Theatre, Newcastle University, information centre and great eating venues (such as Foghorn) ."

The staff was very accommodating, especially with making sure that we had a room that we could use with my wheelchair. The kitchen was well equipped and very clean. Everything here was great, especially being close to Nelson Bay."

"Great stay! Room was clean and the mattress was one of the most comfortable I’ve stayed on (I travel a fair bit). AC worked very well and flowed into both rooms. Pool is not heated, large spa was great but overcrowded by unsupervised children."

"We loved staying here -- it has lots of room for a family of four and my son didn't want to leave! Located in the town center of Nelson Bay, it is also only a few minutes' walk to Woolworths and the other shops. Our apartment was nice and clean and had a good ambience. Furniture had a little wear and tear, but it was acceptable. Rooms were of a good size and the beds were comfortable. The kitchen was very large and had everything we needed. We had a laundry and an ensuite which was very nice. Check-in was easy and the staff were friendly and helpful. A couple of downsides: the wifi was very slow and in fact failed one evening and the wifi network seemed to drop out of existence! Secondly, because it's a pool view apartment, we got a bit of noise from the activity in the pool - these are both minor complaints though as the pool is closed before it gets too late and we have our mobile phones for internet anyway. Overall, it was a great place to stay and we will stay here again next time we're in Nelson Bay. I can recommend it."
