The staff was extremely nice, helpful and friendly. I very much enjoyed them. When I needed somethings for my room, it was there in minutes, so even housekeeping was great. Next time though, we will get an up stairs room. I think all families are on bottom and @ 5:30 -6:00 am, all you hear in hall is kids yelling and parents talking very loudly, running back and forth. Not hotel fault.
Did not use the pool in Oct but looked nice and Clean. The price is way to High for a Motel on the hwy way but was nice all around.

Functional. Good enough.
Cons:
Hot tub out of order.
Infrastructure a little dated.
Plumbing made noises at night.
Pros:
Gorgeous view from our window.
Hot water and Wifi.
Easy check in and out.
Comfortable and clean! Friendly staff. Gave us a space to store our extra stuff so we wouldn’t attract bears in the Whitney Portal parking lot while we were backpacking and summiting Whitney. Great, comfy bed before heading up the trail!
The rooms were clean and comfortable. One thing people need to know is that there's no elevator. If you need a 1st floor room, the hotel needs to know that when you make a reservation. The very nice front desk clerk said you can write it in the comments or requests section of your reservation.
Overall, we had a nice, short stay at the property. Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable. A free, hot breakfast was a very nice incentive. Too cold for the pool area, but it would be awesome in the summer. Mount Whitney loomed above us from the west, easily visible from our room window.

Front desk staff extremely rude. Need coaching in customer service and attitude. For $255 per night you would think they would be more welcoming.Pool key did not work. We only spent one night there as we were traveling through, but would never return.
We just finished summiting Mount Whitney and checked in when there was a water issue that happened. They actually had to shut off the water from 11:30pm through noon the next day but Pam was helpful, friendly, efficient at relaying info to get a refund, and she kept her cool while providing solutions. I know stuff happens and won’t give a bad review for unexpected problems, but Pan was a shining star of grace and customer service in spite of the issues she was spearheading. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!
This is promoted on Expedia as close to Sequioa and it not. There is no access to Sequioa from this location you would need to drive 3+ hours to get to Sequioa
