The area was orginaly developed in the 17th century with townhouses, further developed in the 18th Century with stately regency & Georgian properties and the Art Deco Adelphi building added in the 20th Century. It is one of the 10 oldest surviving townhouses in London, built in 1673 (just 6 years after the great fire of London in 1666). In around 1820 the front facade of the building was made regency in appearance and rendered, whilst the interior kept its original paneled rooms and very rare paneled stairwell. Having been lovingly restored the 5 floor townhouse has an stunning original 17th century stairwell with rooms either side.
