Top Langton Matravers Museum Hotel Reviews
Purbeck House Hotel
8/10 Good
"We had two rooms in the main house on the top floor. We did not see the inside of the lodges. Experia had a good late offer on a Deluxe Superior Room (which the hotel itself wouldn’t price match) which worked out the same price as a standard sea view room that we had booked through the hotel directly. The rooms were a good size and standard (especially the Superior). The bathrooms in both rooms were a bit tired and perhaps most disappointing was the bath tap mixer shower which just provided a trickle in the standard room. The building is impressive from the outside and interesting on the inside. We liked the period features inside the hotel which included rows of old servants bells and various staircases (but no lift). The lounges, bar and outside seating area were also pleasant with period features but seemed to be hardly used by the guests which was surprising during peak August time. The gardens were well maintained. Breakfast in the conservatory was also pleasant and had all the basics available (cereals, croissants, various breads, coffee machine, but there was no cooked option and most fruits were tinned (grapefruit, raspberries etc). The staff were all friendly and helpful. This is a great place to stay if you prefer somewhere that is interesting with some history rather than a typical hotel room and if you don’t mind a few creaks and old fashioned plumbing."
The Pines Hotel
8/10 Good
"Stay was good but the hotel looks dated. The staff very friendly and the property very clean. The electric shower very dated and very noisy. The view over the bay from our balcony was the best part of the break. Hotel over priced and needs some serious modernisation. Thank goodness we had two days of lovely weather."
Red Lion
10/10 Excellent
"Poor guy serving us was stressed due to staff issues, but I can honestly say they were so helpful and kind despite all the hassles they were having. Highly recommended"
A beautifully furnished, stone cottage in Swanage with garden and parking.
10/10 Excellent
"It’s always a pleasure to stay at the Gatehouse. This was our second visit, and once again, it didn’t fail to delight us.The house is beautifully appointed, with comfortable, homely furnishings, high-end appliances and wonderful-quality linens. Everything has been thoughtfully provided, so we had absolutely everything we needed for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. The location is also excellent — just a 10-minute walk down to the beach and high street, making it easy to enjoy everything the area has to offer. We would definitely stay at the Gatehouse again and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, well-equipped and beautifully located home away from home."

"Good price for this time of year in the heatwave and location"
YHA Swanage - Hostel
8/10 Good
"The room was clean but not much space for storing clothes and no shelves for your washbag"
The Lookout - panoramic views; log fire; ONE-dog-friendly, local beaches.
10/10 Excellent
"My 11 year old daughter and I had a lovely stay at The Lookout. Photos don’t do it justice! Everything was very clean, the beds were comfy and everything you could possibly need for your trip was somewhere to be found in the cottage. Michael’s communication was great, getting in was easy and the views over to Corfe Castle were spectacular."
OUR LOVELY HOME WITH KITCHEN BALCONY WITH VIEWS OVER SWANAGE BAY/PURBECK HILLS
10/10 Excellent
"This is a beautiful house situated at the top of the town, with amazing views across Swanage. Centrally located for all local services, there are some lovely places to eat and explore. The house was lovely and clean and the spacious kitchen was a dream size, (one of the reasons we chose this particular house, as my own kitchen is tiny) sadly we were not expecting to find most of the kitchen cupboards locked and notices telling us which cupboards we were allowed to use, the same happened with the drawers and wardobes in the bedrooms, and the bathroom cabinet was 3 part full of someone elses toiletries and medication creams.I don't normally like to put negative comments in a review but for just over 2000 for 2 weeks, we expected to get the whole house as promised, this is what has happened on our previous cottage home bookings. We probably would not have booked if we had known this in advance.Overall though the house is a lovely tranquil place to stay, watching the fish swimming around was very relaxing sat on the wall, but it could have been better with a couple of garden chairs to sit out in the sun in the lower garden for when the sun is fierce on the balcony. We loved Swanage itself, its ike going back to the good old beach days, with deck chairs for hire, plenthy of fish & chip shops and other restaraunts to choose from and amusement arcades, crazy golf and with so much for children to do. We would revisit Swanage happily."
Refurbished house, close to the beach, quiet central location

"This is a well looked after, perfectly situated holiday home. Fully appointed kitchen. Three spacious bedrooms. Large lounge. Highly recommended."
