"We booked the Papagayo last minute after staying at another hotel that was sub par. Our room was great. Spotless, big, with a nice terrace. The property itself is outdated. It is well maintained, but the pool itself gets dirty quickly due to falling leaves. There were not enough sun loungers, and not enough shade. The beach was very nice to walk on, but not the best for swimming. We used the free kayaks on site, and kayaked across the bay 2.5+ miles to the four seasons. Everything at the golden palms hotel was outrageously priced. The food ($28.99 for a burger, cocktails $15-18) was so expensive we walked down the beach to the Marriot El Mangroove hotel, and had gourmet meals for a better price. Hacienda blu was also spectacular and cheaper, just a short walk down the beach. Out of spite we never ate a meal at the hotel because of how expensive it was. The free breakfast was sufficient. Staff were nice and attentive. However, for the price of the hotel, it is too expensive for what you get."
"This was our second trip to this resort, the rooms, pools, restaurants, &bars have all been updated. Great location and friendly staff. The beach feels private and you can enjoy the wildlife anywhere you go. Highly recommend for adults and kids. If you’re booking through Expedia and get round-trip transportation, I recommend that you touch base with the company a day or two before you travel back to the airport just to check in so they know your pick up time. They sit next to the main stage in the morning."

"So we had tried to contact this location without much luck to confirm ocean view and accessible
Room. My Mom is very immobile. I had finally gotten through when I mentioned I wanted to add Star Class and was assured the request had been made only to arrive and find out that there were no such ocean view rooms that were accessible. I think they saw our predicament and moved quickly to help us out. Noelia, a manager came to speak to us, Justin was right there to take us to our rooms. Mom’s room ended up an accessible room but no ocean view. To compensate us on price difference. They provided us with cabanas for two days and we had superb service from all staff. Cannot thank Noelia, Justin, Cristian, "
"All good for the price. Nice property, garden is in good conditionnand lovely, so are the rest of the installations. Staff was very nice. I guess the breakfast could use some additional attention, as there is little food, and the quality is below average. It is complimentary though. The rooms could use a bit more furniture and decoration."
"Clean room. Lovely resort to walk around and nicely lit paths to walk around resort at night. Nice free breakfast menu ( the French Toast was delicious). Good access to beach. Would be better if lighting in the room was brighter."
