Welcome to the Kapitän Hansen Haus, a little paradise for nature lovers, water sports enthusiasts, and those who enjoy the finer things in life. The view of the Schlei from the high bank is spectacular. Here, you can start your day with a breakfast in the sun on the terrace as the first sailboats glide past on the idyllic Baltic Sea fjord, and end it with a barbecue on the terrace as the yachts return to the harbor. The spacious living room with its high ceiling offers relaxation in both sunshine and rain, featuring paintings by North German artists, personal designer pieces, a small library, a Bluetooth sound system, a Bose stereo, and a cozy Danish armchair by the Scandinavian wood-burning stove. At the large dining table, you can spend hours trying out the game collection, eating, chatting, and gazing out at the water. Fiber-optic internet and Wi-Fi access are, of course, available. The open kitchen is so well-equipped with dishes and kitchen accessories that even creative home cooks can prepare meals. All bedrooms offer peace and privacy with direct access to the garden or terrace. You can even enjoy a trip to the sauna and a soak in the hot tub right in the house. Just a few steps away, you can enjoy summer on the water—great fun for kids and adults alike: swimming, canoeing, sailing, or launching a SUP to explore the Schlei and its still nearly untouched tributaries and Noore in complete privacy. White-tailed eagles and families of swans find refuge here. The Schlei region offers numerous well-maintained bike paths for extended tours through the rolling hills, dotted with manor houses, castles, and nature reserves. In the cozy harbor towns of Kappeln and Eckernförde, you’ll still find small shops and regional markets. The expansive beaches of the Baltic Sea are easy to reach. Art and culture can be found at Emil Nolde’s House with its stunning garden in Seebüll. Gottorf and Glücksburg Castles, as well as nearby Denmark, are worth a visit. Music lovers can attend the magnificent Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival. Many personal recommendations for restaurants and excursions are waiting to be explored. The Schlei River flows from the Baltic Sea to Schleswig through a green landscape dotted with idyllic villages and small harbor towns. Manor houses and aristocratic estates add impressive architectural highlights. A good network of bike paths, sandy swimming spots lined with reeds, and numerous marina towns provide opportunities for sports and exercise. Art and history enthusiasts can explore their interests at the Viking village of Haithabu, on the Museumsberg in Flensburg, at Gottorf Castle, and in the many small museums. The Kapitän Hansen Haus is located on the southern shore of the Schlei along a sandy path in the small vacation village of Hülsen, surrounded by hedgerows, meadows, and hills, and bordered by the Baltic Sea fjord.
