「One of the best places to stay. The resort retains the old Kerala vibe although providing all the modern amenities one requires for a comfortable stay. The staff is courteous, warm and responsive. Their breakfast spread is nice. It’s worth the money spent. 」

「A lovely backwater stay. Beautiful grounds. We really enjoyed the boat ride. The restaurant was the only disappointment. Despite repeated communication that one person did not want hot food and assurances that they would alter the food, it was still too spicy hot to eat.」

「the location is amazing ...overlooking the sea with access to wide open beaches and no people - a big contrast to Verkala north cliff beach. The place was clean , modern and the staff went out of their way to assist us with adapters, taxis, etc... The food was excellent though a bit overpriced. I would love to visit again !」

「We were a honeymoon couple and we were not given the category of room which we had asked for and booked for- floating room. Whilst booking we had called the hotel that we particularly want the floating room when booked with expedia but not given. Even the staff is lousy. Expedia staff kept calling the hotel but the night Reception staff kept hanging their phone without answering and finally kept the phone aside.spoiled our honeymoon plans. 」

「Not worth the almost $80 a night charge for a room that's old and mouldy with no air conditioning in the heat of Kerala. Much better options available elsewhere in this town for the same price and even less where you can find better conditions with professional and courteous staff.」

「4階の見晴しの良い部屋でしたが、桟には沢山の鳩の糞、もちろん鳩が常に休憩している状態で落ち着きにくい状態でした。窓がフィックスの窓なので掃除しにくい事は解りますが、せっかくの景観が台無しでした。 シーツは穴が開いており、湯沸かしポットには小さな虫が・・・。あまりにも沢山いたので、あきらめてポットは使わないようにしました。 最上階のレストラン、スタッフの対応は大変良かったです。ただ、朝食にはインスタントのコーヒーなので、コーヒー好きの人はガッカリするでしょう。安宿と違いますから、せめてドリップコーヒーぐらい用意して欲しかったです。 総合的な感想ですが、いたって普通のインドの宿でした。これならもっと安い宿にすれば良かったかな。」

「The reception staff was very friendly. However the room was a disappointment. There was not toilet paper, the sheets were dirty and stained. I had to use a towel on the bottom sheet and slept in my clothes. I booked for two nights and stayed one night and checked out. The location was nice very close to the beach and local restaurants. I would not recommend staying here. 」

「Really sweet spot just off the beach up a commerce alley. Jishnu the host was very nice and helpful with getting comfortable. Hot shower if you want it - but I’ve learned to love taking cold showers here - and the bathroom was perfectly clean and well appointed. I will be back here at the Gypsy next year for sure.」

「Generally I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The staff was very pleasant, the restaurant was fine, and the hotel was near a number of interesting sites. However, the hotel could benefit from a few minor but noticeable signs of aging. My recommendation to the hotel is to replace the hall carpet and elevator flooring, repaint the room walls, and reseal and paint the lobby roof, which is on display when taking the elevator. Also please, drop the elevator music, or replace it once in a while.」

「A nice break from a very busy Varkala. Best if you have transportation. The natural setting is calm, and it's worth exploring the beach across the waterway, accessible via kayak or 2km walk.」
