Drumsmittal School, Black Isle, Inverness

Our recently renovated property which was the old village school, is completed to a high standard and is wonderfully bright and spacious. With two bedrooms and two bathrooms we are ideally located in a beautiful rural location less than 10 minutes from Inverness City Centre. The best of both worlds! Use us as your base to explore the Highlands. Our situation is perfect for exploring Inverness, The Black Isle, Loch Ness, Culloden, Clava Cairns, as well as further afield. If you are arriving by public transport we can pick you up in Inverness. There is a large private parking area outside the house and it's free of charge.

The house has it's own utility room with a washing machine and an electric clothes drier.

The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need including a microwave and a dish washer. If you prefer to eat out the near by village of North Kessock boasts a pub and a tea-room, both of whom serve great food. Free wi-fi is provided, although with so much to see and do, we hope you will relax and switch your phone off!

This place was amazing. We were sad to only spend 1 night. Lots of room, comfy beds, great bathrooms, amazing living room and kitchen, endless hot water, and an amazing host. Super fun history too :). I would absolutely stay again.

This property was conveniently located close to Inverness yet at a distance that offered peace and quiet. The house was immaculately kept with plenty of nice upgrades (e.g., new bathrooms, upgraded kitchen, hot water heater, garden). This was perfect for our family of four! Our hosts, Donnie and Ellie, were great, friendly, helpful, and accommodating. We would definitely come back here again.

Beautiful Black Isle Setting

Donnie and Ellie are the most gracious hosts. Their home is a in a beautiful country setting. I had everything needed for a comfotable stay. After exploring Inverness I also explored Black Isle and you cannot miss it it will take you back in time. Highly recomend The Drumsmittal School.for your stay in Iverness.

Wonderful place to stay

Hosts were very welcoming and delightful. Accommodations were well appointed. We’ve stayed at many holiday homes and this was by far the best. Hosts greeted us upon arrival and had provided supplies for breakfast to carry us over to the next morning in case we needed it. Would definitely recommend it!

Peaceful and quiet

Conveniently located close to Inverness ( 15 minutes by car - Car necessary to reach the house) but in the countryside. Great view on the fields. No noise : quiet and peaceful nights, we slept like babies. The house is fully equiped. The bedrooms are large. There are 2 bathrooms and plenty of towels. The private parking is just in front of the door.We spent 3 nights there. There are so many things to do and see in the surrondings that we could have stayed longer. Many thanks to our hostess who took good care of us !aandthere us 2 bathroom

Best little school house stay ever!!!

This sweet little home was impeccably clean and comfortable. Donnie was a great host and gave excellent recommendations for dinner at a near hotel. The home provided us with great space to prepare meals and relax together. I would absolutely want yo return and share another visit!

Perfect location

This was the absolute perfect spot for home-base in for our highland adventure. We traveled to both the east and west coasts. The property was clean, up to date and nestled in a country setting complete with the hillside of sheep out the large windows. Donnie and Ellie were the perfect host. We loved staying @ School of Drums! Ellie & Donnie were so kind and considerate. The place is huge, with plenty of room for relaxing. It's not everyday one can look out the window and watch the sheep grazing in the field. Lovely lovely place.

We loved our stay. Donnie and Ellie have a beautiful place. It was pristine. It is a large place which we enjoy. There are many windows that let in sun making it bright and cheery. We apreciated the food provided for breakfast. Waking up in the morning looking out the windows at the sheep and the lush green landscape of Scotland is the best!

Cosy end to our day

Donnie is a perfect gentleman and Ellie was very approachable and on point whenever we needed her. The house was immaculate and breakfast provided which saved us a late night trip to the shops. The garden is very beautiful and the atmosphere so quite and relaxed. The. Decor is beautiful and the location for us with a car was ideal for wherever we needed to be. Real love and attention is put into making this place a home away from home. Somewhere to chill after exploring the area. Kitchen is well equipped and us ladies were overjoyed to see a slow cooker! There is a lovely local pub and community hall with various activities like a market. Abundant with things to forage near the property for lovers of foraging. Beds are comfortable also plenty wildlife to see if lucky from the lovely big windows. We felt like we had privacy but also felt safe knowing Donnie and Ellie were near by as two women travelling alone. They really know the area and make some ex cellent suggestions. We loved it here and cannot wait to share this property as well as Scotland with our families.

Perfect place to rest your head and explore the highlands

I miss this place already, it really was a great place to stay in the highlands. The rental is quite large and has a more open feel for us Americans used to open concept living. The bedrooms were a good size and set up with all you need - a chair, hanging space for your clothes, and a radiator in each room to stay warm. The main bathroom is huge and has an enclosed shower! I am not sure why most of the UK has tubs with small glass patricians on the side, but these showers were enclosed so you can take that how shower after a day of exploring. The kitchen is large and has everything you may need, and Ellie and Donnie are so kind to provide some breakfast goods so you can get your day started right away. They were even so kind as to make sure there were vegan things for us, it was greatly appreciated. This vacation is one you don't want to pass up, its spotlessly clean, in a quiet area just outside the city central, has cute little sheep right next door that can be seen out of several windows, and is perfectly located to explore castles, waterfalls, and other historical places. Id suggest Culloden, Fort George, Urquhart Castle, Rogue Falls ( see the salmon going up the salmon ladder) for a nice little hike, and Clava Cairns. There are many more, but go explore, see if you can find the Highland coo and some alpacas. Thank you Donnie and Ellie, we made some wonderful memories and hope to come back soon for another visit.
