  • Home of Freeman Walker, outstanding citizen of early Georgia. Born in Virginia in 1780, he came to Richmond County in his youth and studied law. Freeman Walker, in 1826, deeded 70 acres of land to the United States Government to be used as an arsenal-the site now of the Junior College of Augusta. He reserved one acre as a family burial ground, known as the Walker Cemetery. He was the father of Maj. Gen. W. H. T. Walker, CSA. Admitted to the bar in 1802, he followed a life of public service; City Attorney for three years and Mayor of Augusta 1817-19, being the first to hold the city´s chief executive office under the name of Mayor, and Brigade Inspector of Gen. Valentine Walker´s brigade in 1813. He represented Richmond County in both branches of the State Legislature and represented Georgia in the U. S. Senate. Beautiful well-kept home. Very clean and comfortable. Owner had soaps and shampoo which have not been the case at other places we’ve stayed and is a nice perk. Quiet neighborhood. Owner very responsive. Town of Harlem has a great Italian restaurant and ice cream shop. Friendly people.

Excellent rental property near Augusta!!!

This rental house was very clean and comfortable. A perfect rental house for visiting family in the Augusta area. I would definitely stay again and highly recommend!

Masters trip

My son, 2 of his buddies and I totally enjoyed our stay. The house is bright, clean and well supplied. Only 25 minutes to the Masters parking, it was a great place to rest and relax after a long day at Augusta National. Would use this house again.

Great Location

We love the location of this property. It is just around the corner from our grandson and his family so we had plenty of time for visiting. It was nice to be able to prepare a meal for him and his family and to just walk from his home to the VRBO. We do hope to visit again and we do hope this property will be available. We have told other family members about the convenience of renting this property. We had a very enjoyable vacation.

Everything was amazing! House was the cleanest rental I have ever stayed in. The neighborhood is very quiet and safe. The town itself is very quaint and charming. Loved it! We stayed here for my son's college fishing tournament held on Clark's Hill. Worked out perfectly. Thanks for sharing your house with us. Would definitely stay again.

This home is newer and in a newer quiet neighborhood. Upon entrance of the home, you could feel its charm, coziness and cleanliness. My wife is very particular on cleanliness. We loved the split floor plan.Very cute and quaint set up. Since it was just the 2 of us, we only used the master bedroom. The 3 bedrooms on the other side of home looked very comfortable for guests. There was plenty of shampoo, conditioner, bar soap, lotion, towels and wash rags provided. The kitchen was also stocked with plenty of dishes, glasses and coffee mugs, pots and pans, silverware, strainer, Keurig for hot and cold coffee with plenty of coffee pods. There was even hand soap for the sinks. There was also a basket of goodies/snacks and water to welcome us. The master bed was very comfortable. The shower worked great with hot water.The back yard is now fenced in, which the pictures do not show. There is also a grill, which we did not get to use. The host responded very quickly when we initiated our reservation, and we did not have to bother her during our stay as everything was PERFECT!! It was hard to leave. We will most definitely stay, again, when in the Harlem area.
