Convenient to beach. Better cleaning for next guests. Windows. Living room ceiling lights were dirty, lots of dead flies in them. Also, a shower handle bar would be useful especially for older guests.

This place is beautiful and definitely a place to restore the soul. We had such a great time as a family enjoying the beach and the water. Our two kids loved the upstairs area and spent a lot of time up there playing. We will definitely go back!!!

Wonderful location

This is the fourth year in a row we have stayed at this property. It is in a great location for us, is clean, and has everything you need for your stay. We stayed three years in a row at Property 1, and the first year at Property 2. Property 1 has a better view, but Property 2 has better beds for seniors as the loft beds in Property 1 are low to the ground. We hope to move back to Property 2 next year.

Lake house stay

Overall a great family stay. Property is very quiet. Definitely bring a good pair of water shoes as the beach and water is rocky. However, once you get out to the sandbar, it’s all fun and games. There is a nice beach just in town that we checked out for a few hours if the rocks at the lake house bother you. The food shack at the beach had some great burgers. The house has everything we needed except a drying rack for when we did dishes. Great communication with the owners while we stayed. If you are looking for an easy going trip, this is the spot.

First Anniversary Vacation

We liked the quaint size of the cabin (i.e. comfortable). My stepson and his fiancé stayed the first 2 nights upstairs and the room is better designed for children not adults. We especially enjoyed the privateness of the beach area. Only a couple of times during the week did we see anyone on the beach and only when they walked past. It is a beautiful location. We also enjoyed watching the freighters sailing by on the lake. The cabin was well stocked with kitchen and bathroom necessities. Thank you so much.

Wonderful Stay for Family Reunion in area

We stay in a rental for our annual family reunion in the area. There were three of us here this year and we booked The Tan's Property #1. The property is very clean and has everything anyone would need for a vacation rental, including both a drip coffee pot and a pod for single cups (bring your own coffee). We enjoy looking out at the lake from the living room and/or the deck. The deck has a large picnic table which we enjoyed every night and early morning. A few of the screens had holes, so we were unable to open the kitchen windows, but did enjoy the fresh breeze through the living room on nice evenings. Joy Tan checks her communications frequently and is very responsive and helpful.

family reunion/ family getaway

Loved being right on the Lake and close enough with the wooden bridge to allow elderly parents to get to the beach. The Step between living room and kitchen in unit one was hard for my visually impaired family member to see, we had to rim it with bright toys and move the black rug to the step base to allow easier visibility. Washer and dryer in Unit two invaluable to get the family through the weekend and it was great not to have to worry about dirty, wet beach towels after swimming. We laundered the towels and hung them on the line at Unit one. The rock-hounds in the family spent hours on the beach and the firepit on the beach was great for the younger family, a little harder for the older family to get to and stay in the wonderful wind off of the Lake. A.C units kept the rooms cool and we brought fans to further that air circulation throughout the two units. Concerns that we texted to the Host were answered and addressed. It was a wonderful family get together and quiet enough that you could hear the Lake through windows that could be opened. It was a great place for a large group of family staying together for the weekend and we will be going back.

4th year in a row!

I'll continue to write positive reviews after my family and I just enjoyed our 4th annual end-of-summer vacation here. We continue to love the privacy of the beach and have never had any issues with vacationers in the adjoining property. It's quiet and the location is perfect for us. We can do many adventures in the thumb-area within 30-45 minute drive (this year we visited the Thumb Octagon Barn). The full bed isn't the most luxurious (we bring a mattress topper) and we did have some little gnats get in the upstairs A/C unit one night but overall, not a big deal in our eyes. Owners are amazing and just a text away with anything you need and to provide tips for things to do in the area. Hopefully the kids still want to go back next year!

Inaccurate Listing Info

This property (#1) states that is has 3 bedrooms and a washing machine and a dryer. It had two bedrooms and a clothesline. The grate on the charcoal grill is half the size it should be. The entire property is fenced in, which seemed very odd. There were "no tresspassing" signs on the neighbor's fence which was off-putting. It got a little chilly at night and there were no extra blankets. The place was very clean and had extra cleaning supplies. No matches or lighters. Very nice dark sky if you turn off the street light. Very rocky beach, bring water shoes. Nice fire pits. The excess sand needs to be cleaned out for better oxygen flow. Plenty of firewood. Overall, we had a nice stay. Property is well-maintained. Very quiet place. The adjoining unit had a family staying there, but we could not hear them.

Great Getaway

The property was perfect for our 4th of July getaway. We wanted something quiet where our 8 year old would be able to enjoy the beach while our infant napped during the day and this property definitely allowed for that. The water was a little murky at the beginning of our stay but cleared by the end although I highly suggest water shoes for wading in as there are lots of rocks and the water is very shallow. The listing was mostly accurate and there was plenty of space for the four of us and being able to cook in the kitchen was a big plus. There were a couple of things I would suggest keeping in mind though - there is no washer/dryer which we had planned to use and so we ended up hand washing things in the tub and buying a couple of things in town. Also - the mattress in the main bedroom could definitely stand to be replaced - it wasn't very comfortable and sunk in a lot. Lastly, the listing mentioned a Kayak/Canoe "available for rentals" which we thought meant would be available for those staying in the rentals but actually meant for an additional cost per the book of info that was in the living room - it seemed very pricy and we didn't end up using them because of it. Our kiddo was a bit disappointed over that but loved all of the great rocks for skipping at the beach.

Updates NEEDED

Property is more like a deep woods cabin then a beach front cottage. Definitely needs updates, especially a new mattress. Was clean but needs a deep cleaning!!! Could only open one window due to all the screens having holes in them and the mosquitoes getting through. The window air conditioner in the bedroom barely worked and there is spaces all around that the mosquitoes kept getting through. Overall, not impressed.

Beachfront Family Getaway

This property and its location were ideal for our family of four, including a toddler and infant, for five days. The cabin was clean and well-adorned, with nearly everything needed for a weekend escape, though some fixings were slightly dated. The private beach adjacent to the place was perfect, with areas blocked from the wind that helped tremendously with the little ones. We will definitely be booking again! The only drawback worth highlighting is misinformation in the listing that affected how we prepared for the weekend. Notably, there was not a washer/dryer (we had brought too few clothes, planning to wash), and the grill was missing grates, making it inoperable (though we brought food, planning to grill).

Annual end-of-summer getaway

This is our 3rd year in a row staying at Sunrise In Sandy Beach. Once again, we had an amazing time. As always, the beach was a hit and we had a great time staying inside and playing games. The house was clean and comfortable for all of us. We did have to use a Wok to make scrambled eggs and bacon since there wasn't a larger non-stick frying pan but it all worked out. :) Also would recommend the Huron City Museum tour with Katie if you're there in the summer over a weekend. If we've come here 3 years now, with 4 kids that now range from ages 6-14, that is saying something. Will be back again!

Nice and comfortable.

The beach area is nice and secluded and we had a great view from the cottage. There is a second cottage to share with, but that was fine with plenty of area and 2 fire pits. The cottage itself was very roomy and comfortable. Our hosts were very friendly and welcoming.
