Founded in 1891 as the official residence of the Lieutenant Governor of Canada’s Northwest Territories, Government House now serves as a popular museum and entertainment center. Step back in time in the Picture Us room where you can be photographed dressed in Victorian clothing. In the Once Upon A Time room, kids discover history through playful, themed activities. Don’t forget to look for the playful Jocko, a stuffed reproduction of a monkey who once inhabited the house. It is hidden in a new location in Government House each month, and if you spot him you may win a prize.

In the stunningly designed Edwardian Gardens, take a stroll amid fragrant roses and herbs. In summer you can purchase a picnic basket from the on-site Butler’s Pantry for lunch and then stretch out on the lawns. Loop up at the distinctive squared dome and Roman arches that make Government House such a spectacle. Artists often frequent the gardens. Art classes are offered at various times throughout the year. Once a month, Government House hosts a Victorian Tea, a popular event on the Regina social calendar.
