This apartment is located in the heart of the historic center of Funchal. With shopping, restaurants and sights nearby, we were able to walk everywhere with ease. The description of the apartment was accurate—no lift, sounds of nightlife at times—so no surprises. The apartment itself is spacious and comfortably furnished. The kitchen is well equipped and the separate laundry room was a pleasant surprise. We enjoyed our stay and especially appreciated the balcony. It was just lovely to sit outside with a glass of wine after a day out and about.

Madeira Funchal

Loved the apartment plenty of room and great location. Good restaurant on the ground floor. All the staff were very nice. Booked tour of the western part of the island and really enjoyed it.

Great location in the middle of the old town with plenty of restaurants within walking distance and a small supermarket 5 minutes walk away. The apartment was very well equipped and the beds were very comfortable. It was 28 degrees in Funchal so bedroom fans would have been useful as the apartment can get very warm. Apart from this our stay was perfect

sauber und zweckmäßig, gute Küchenausstattung, Betten waren sehr gut, die Lage ist etwas schwierig, nach hinten hinaus Küchendämpfe und Gerüche und Abzugsgeräusche, nach vorne sehr laut, aber wir wollten ja ein Residenz, von der aus gut überall hin zu starten ist.

Enchanting Funchal

We absolutely loved our stay in Funchal. The spacious apartment is in an excellent location in the old town. The sunny balcony overlooks the Atlantic and the bustling restaurants below serve up an amazing selection of delectable dishes. Make sure to take the cable car up to the Monte Palace Gardens to view the most spectacular scenery. I would highly recommend this spot. Can’t wait to return.

Location was great. Noise was awful. No air conditioning, No working fan, No working TV and No lift. Nice welcome accessories. Nice space. Easy access to everything. Parking available but it's 15 euros a day and down the street. Loved all the doors in Funchal.

Appartement propre et très bien situé.Nous avons pu avoir les clés plus tôt car l'appartement était prêt, ce qui a été très pratique.Le ventilateur du salon ne fonctionnait pas vraiment et il n'y a pas de pinces pour étendre le linge, mais sinon, tout était bien.

Wir haben gerne viel Platz und sind gerne sehr zentral - mit Taberna 5 - sozusagen im 3.Stock der Fressmeile in Funchal - war das bestens erfüllt. Ende Oktober war nicht vielmLärm - aber natürlich riecht man dass die Restaurants grillen. 2 Minuten zum ZOB, 2 Minuten zur Seilbahn, 3 Minuten zu Mercado dos Lavradores und zum großen Supermarkt. Genau unser Ding.

Exactly as advertised

As the listing makes clear, you will be staying right in the heart of the old town - on its oldest cobblestone street. That means some noise on the weekends and plenty of bustle right out the front door - but it also means you're immersed in the activity. It is steps from dozens of restaurants, bars, and the waterfront. Can't recommend this property enough if you are looking for a location in the middle of everything old town Funchal has to offer. Also an amazing value - would stay here again in a minute.

Situation excellente quoique bruyant pour s'endormir à cause des restos sous la fenêtre. C'est chaud, difficile à aérer, cela prendrait des unités de climatisation ou des ventilateurs (il n'y en a qu'un et peu efficace). Manque d'équipements: 3 tasses pour le café alors qu'on a payé un supplément de près de 500 euros pour être 4!

Relaxing escape in the heart of it all

I would definitely plan to stay here again next time in Madeira. This was a home away from home. Ocean views out the front and mountains views out the back. We enjoyed coming back from a day of adventuring and sitting on the balcony with a nice bottle of wine in the evening. The property manager is on site if there are any questions needing answered and she is extremely kind and helpful. Step outside your front door and be spoiled for choice for dinner.

Great Apartment in Old Town

This apartment is an excellent option for Funchal. It is right in the heart of old town. A five minute walk to swimming spots and a 5 to 10 minute walk to the farmers market and a big supermarket with everything. The veranda is lovely and the pictures are extremely accurate. The property managers are in the same building and you get a discount on the restaurant on the ground floor has great food. Cannot recommend more highly!

Perfect Location

We had Apt 5 with a full size balcony and view of water. It was a walk-up but worth it. Very convenient location. Restaurants right at your door. Water front a two minute walk. Mercado and main market just minutes away. You can be in the middle of all the activity or walk in the other direction for a quieter area. Definitely the perfect location. And will rebook for future trips to Funchal.

We stayed July 25-29 and had booked Apartment 5 specifically for its balcony, paying accordingly. Due to a key mix-up at check-in, we were placed in Apartment 4 instead, which has no balcony. We weren't moved into the correct apartment until our final night, meaning we had almost no opportunity to actually use the balcony we'd paid extra for before our early flight the next morning. We were not reimbursed for the price difference between the balcony apartment we paid for and the standard apartment we actually stayed in for most of the trip.On top of that, when we were relocated between apartments, staff told us they would transfer our items from the counter into the fridge in Apartment 5. This didn't happen, and those items (a reusable grocery bag and about 25 of groceries, roughly 35 total) went missing and were never recovered, despite asking restaurant/property staff to check. The move itself also disrupted other guests staying nearby on our first night.When we raised this with the property, they offered a wine and cheese platter as a gesture of goodwill. We appreciated the gesture, but it didn't come close to making up for paying for a balcony apartment we barely got to use, the inconvenience of the switch, or the value of what went missing.The location itself is convenient, and the building is nice, but we are extremely disappointed with how our stay was handled overall.

Taberna Apartment

We were very pleased with apartment. Lots of room but beds a bit firm. AC would have been nice but still comfortable.The location in old town Funchal was excellent! We especially would like to thank Paulo who greeted us and gave us the keys along with local area info. As well he arranged an early morning taxi for us on our departure.Paulo is a kind, courteous man and was very accommodating throughout our stay and arranging dinner reservations for us in the restaurant downstairs that had exceptional service and delicious food. We highly recommend this apartment and would gladly stay there again in the future

We loved the location of the apartment it was spacious for 4 people with a well equipped kitchen. We ate at the restaurant below and the food was lovely; although everywhere in Funchal has amazing restaurants with an abundance of fish on the menus. We were close to the cable cars and the sea, bus stops and taxis. There are 3 flights of stairs to reach your apartment so maybe not suitable for the less able as there isn’t a lift. We communicated a few times with Our Madeira but felt they lacked a personal touch, we didn’t really know who we were talking to. We asked for 2 sets of keys but didn’t receive the extra set. Although we did manage in the end..Unfortunately some building work was going on in the adjacent block so drilling and hammering went on for 2 days and woke us up each morning. We received some wine as an apology which was nice but peace and quiet and a restful stay is what you ideally need!! As 4 of us stayed 4 chairs on the balcony would have been nice we only had 3!! It looked at bit tired and not like the pictures which was a shame as we paid more for apartment 5 with the balcony!!We loved Madeira and would definitely visit the island again and the location of this apartment was great.

It was mixed. The older man at affiliated restaurant seemed to dislike us from the beginning and his attitude towards us impacted my mother a lot. The good: location, size, price. Not as good: horrible beds-so uncomfortable, dirty kitchen sponge, no dish soap, someone left an arm brace in the freezer, 2?or so cabinet doors weren't attached and a general feeling that maybe they would say we broke something-don't know why we got that feeling but I took tons of pictures before we left just in case. So, in general I'm not unhappy we rented the place and we loved Funchal. Maybe our impression would have been different had the man downstairs not kind of sneered at is each time we entered the apartment. Also tell renters they need to pay hotel tax in cash ahead so they don't have to go to very expensive cash machine down the street. With a few tweaks, better beds, dish soap, new sponge-something to make you feel like you were valued staying at the apartment, this apartment would be a 5 out of 5. I know people would be willing to pay s bit more for a better bed.
